The All State is a neighborhood institution that I've been enjoying for the past 25+ years. I enjoyed studying there as a graduate student, going there after work with friends or on a date, and I continue to enjoy it with my husband and children. They make the best and most generous fried chicken you'll get anywhere -- crispy, juicy, with a rosemary and vinegar flavor that is deliciously unique. Their burgers are always excellent -- fresh, and prepared just how you order them. They also make great tuna salad and wonderful steak-fries. In addition, they have a tasty assortment of entrees that varies nightly. The loaves of bread are still yummy. The service is totally effiicient, ranging from matter of fact to friendly and familial -- but never rude. It's a home away from home for many many long-time upper westsiders.

This place is awful. At first it may seem like a nice, cozy, neighborhood spot, but then you realize the food is overpriced and the staff is rude. Usually these types of places are right up my alley--simple, "dive" bars. But this place is just obnoxious. There are a lot of much friendlier bars with good, resonably priced food in this neighborhood.
