The Scene
Busy, bustling and crowded with merchandise. You might not know where to begin, but it's not intimidating or too pro. The staffers are experts on skates or boards and will share their knowledge with you regardless of your ability or experience. Novices teeter around on in-line skates in the try-on area, pros nip in for straps and replacement wheels, and hip teens love the selection of surfer-girl T-shirts and bikinis.
The Goods
New silver scooters, in-line skates by Roces, Rollerblade, K2 and Salomon and skateboards (both long and short) by Element, Toy Machine, Zero and Alien Workshop. Stop here in winter for ice skates and snowboards. Blades has every accessory you might need to go mobile. You can also find both men's and women's beach and street clothing, and every variation on the requisite wraparound shades.
