This chain brought Chinatown-style dining to the UWS in 1989, and still serves their namesake noodles and Hong Kong style dishes.
Bustling but worth the rush
by mjdoonesbury
A bustling place (consider the location) that is still great; in spite of their hurried atmosphere, the food is tasty, varied, and not overwhelming or cheaply executed.
- Pros: great food, location, great menu
- Cons: rushed
Insane delivery- best I've ever seen.
by schmeep
I'm coming from a delivery standpoint. This place has consistently been the fastest (I think they have a time machine) freshest place for delivery. The scallion pancakes, mixed dumplings, and General Tso's are a great combo. I also recommend the spare ribs. I've also tried the Hunan Mixed Chef Special, which was quite nice. Mediocre dishes are the 'standards' like Moo Shu and Pepper Steak.
I really can't say enough about the delivery. I've been ordering from Ollies for 10 years, off and on, and cannot figure out how they can get everything together and to your door in 15 minutes (Literally). Makes you happy when you're hungry.
- Pros: Delivery Fast and Fresh. Some of the best scallion pancakes ever.
- Cons: Some 'standard' items are mediocre.
Satisfying food

In our short visit to NYC, we dined at this location 3 times. The first time, we had barely walked in and sat down and looked at the menu when we were asked if we were ready. Well, no...we weren't....we just walked in the door. We finally decided on the chicken w/eggplant and beef & broccoli. Both were good....no, make that...the eggplant was perfectly cooked. The 2nd time we had the Spicy Tofu w/Pork in Black Bean Sauce. It was truly the tastiest version of MaPo Tofu I've ever tasted, and being from San Francisco I'm no stranger to good Chinese food. Just good, simple food at reasonable prices. The service could be geared more toward the comfort of the diner, though. No one wants a bill thrust in their faces while they're still savoring their meal, okay?
- Pros: Tasty food
- Cons: The waitstaff could be trained in courteousy
