Culinary bad boy Michael "Bao" Huynh has seen more than his share of career praise, blame, and burned bridges; his latest effort comes in the space occupied for 13 buzz-less years as Rain. Hunyh has rolled out a big Vietnamese menu featuring both classics (spring and summer rolls, a "Mekong market clay pot" with giant prawns) and fusion takes (a duck bacon and daikon "hash" with a fried egg on top.) There's a big lounge and an even bigger dining room, both meant to evoke a shabby-chic, prewar Vietnam of a kind suitable for snacking and snoggling. And to a great extent, they do.

This is a reliable go to restaurant for absolutely delish food...and can be very reasonably priced. The speciality martinis are very different and tasty. I have been there for at least 5 birthday parties ...which they accommodate easily. The assorted pupu platter is a must - 3 people can share this and another appetizer / entree and be full.

I like Rain. The atmosphere is very relaxing. It is a nice place to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine. The food is decent. I had the pad thai and I enjoyed it. I have never had to wait for a table and the staff is very helpful.

This restaurant gets it right no matter what food from which culture they're cooking. Their Thai food is great, but their Vietnamese food is the best I've ever had.
