“The Gin Mill is a great place to watch sports.”
“Any place that you waitresses cannot move to try and serve you might seem ridiculous, but this place is a lot of fun.”
“Not only were the drinks really affordable, and plentiful, but there were so many different baseball and basketball games on , everyone in our group got to see what we wanted.”
“Service is quick and drinks are inexpensive, food is great.”
Rowdy, but in a fun way. Thought the place was pretty crazy - lots of rowdy frat bros. That's kind of my scene though, so I had a really good time. Drink selection is good, the bouncer was just kind of a jerk
Truly awesome bar staff. I just had my birthday there this past Saturday. I chose to book a party in the front bar, and went for the $35 wristband option. Was told on the phone, that those wristbands covered EVERYTHING except for top shelf, and pitchers, but since I was only there to use their beerpong tables, that pitchers would be provided for those currently playing. I called earlier in the day to reiterate the terms of the agreement, but sadly only checked on the pitchers. Was given the go ahead at the time, but once I showed up, the open bar rules at the bar were entirely different from those that were discussed over the phone. I found out entirely too late, that "everything but premium liquor" doesn't include shots, and that they would only be able to serve me a couple of pitchers on the wristbands, and only if every single person on the table had a wristband as well. Obviously this precluded us from playing anyone who wasn't part of our party, and also negated about half my friends. I opted to open a tab just for pitchers, but was understandably very displeased. I had some words with the bartender, and explained to him what had happened between me booking the party on the phone, and the reality of the situation. Long story short, I got comped the vast majority of the drinks I had to purchase, and they threw shots at me like nobody's business. These guys are the best, and the actual staff in the bar are second to none. I can't say I'm exactly happy with "eat drink and be merry" the company with which I booked the party, but the folks in the bar went above and beyond to make things right.
Sorry if there was confusion on what was included for your event. We book these events with contracts so all the details are outlined and they specifically state what's included in your foodar package.
Amazing bar, amazing drink specials. This bar is amazing. There are no bars on the UWS that have better prices than The Gin Mill or Jake's Dilemma, which is right down the street. Nothing even comes close. Also, I think they revamped the menu recently because the food is better than it's ever been. Really great place... one of my favorites. Five stars!
An old fav. Love to hang at this bar on Fridays - even though it's crowded - or any other time to watch a game. Decent crowd, decent bartenders, awesome chicken fingers. Only, do not buy mixed drinks at a table during happy hour, otherwise your half-priced drink will have half the liquor...Which I found out last Friday. Normally a bar person, but was with a large group, and so decided to try a table. Never again. That's enough, I can eat and drink in a reasonable amount of time, for a reasonable (even more so during happy hour, IF I'm at the bar) amount of money, in a reasonably pleasant 'sports bar' environment. I'm satisfied.
Great bar on the UWS. Great food also, and the women that go there are usually real cute...younger crowd, but it's a TON of fun and they have a great staff. Tuesdays and Fridays and Saturdays are some of the best nights...and good prices too.
Editorial Review. Low-key Upper West Side bar nurtures partyers with beer pong, burgers and games on the tube.
Great place to watch the game!. I love going to the Gin Mill to watch sports because I always know I can see the game I want, no matter how obscure. The bartenders are great, the drinks are cheap for NYC, and the crowd is mostly locals (except Friday and Saturday nights). Great Happy Hour (1/2 price)!
Diamond in the Rough. Went to Gin Mill for the first time about 2 years ago... A Group of about 20 of us went after a college reunion. Atmosphere was great, drinks were strong & cheap. I agree with many of the reviews, the service is always willing to please the crowd. Music is great, people are great. This isnt your "typical college bar". All walks of life come in and have a good time. By far the best bar in the city that I have found.
great spot. On Sunday EVERY football game will surely be on one of the many TV's at this bar. A fantasy football participants dream............. Service is quick and drinks are inexpensive, food is great. overall a one of my favorite local bars to chill and watch the game. or just chill and drink.....
Sports and more. The Gin Mill is a great place to watch sports. They have a ton of TV's and always have a ton of different games on. The night time crowd is great and the drinks are cheap. The food is good. Bartenders are friendly. Music is great.
