This cozy shop has a great selection of yarns. When you get up the stairs it is a treat to see the walls full of beautiful colors and wool types. I like the books available for tips and instructions, and they seem happy to help with questions for a beginner like myself

Tavi is great. She is so enthusiastic. What a change from the previous owners. The store looks amazing. She has great yarn that no one else has. I cannot believe how many yarn companies has relationships already.And it so great that she is having so many trunk shows, book signings with amazing designers, and classes. And her daughter is so knowledgeable and a pleasure to have around. She knows more about yarn knitting, crocheting, spinning, quilting, etc. I am already taking a spinning class an expert spinning--wheel, spindle, fleece and techniques. It is sad that one of the previous reviewers was so nasty and wrong.And because I do not have a wheel, Tavi is letting me come in at any time to practice. I cannot say enough.

I have been going to this store for a few months and have always loved the selection of beautiful yarns. Since the refurbishment and new ownership the shop looks a whole lot better and the staff have been very helpful answering my numerous questions as a 'returning knitter'.

I haven't knitted since school but when
I visited the Yarn Company with one of my friends the amazing selection of yarns inspired me to give it a go again.
So last week I went to buy some materials. The staff were so helpful and I have some wonderful yarn. I think I may even take one of their courses.

The Yarn Company is a wonderful family-run business, with an excellent selection of knitting and sewing supplies. I especially appreciated the wide selection of high-quality yarns. I don't sew, but the fabric they are stocking made me wish I did! The staff were *extremely* friendly and knowledgeable, and wanted very much to see that my experience was a good one. I had help selecting a pattern and appropriate yarn and tools. They seemed genuinely excited about my project. Though they were busy, I noted that they took care to pay special attention to each customer and student, and that they did so warmly and with many personal touches. It was clear they had each taken the time to get to know their regular customers, and were making an effort to get to know their new ones, like me! I will be back to The Yarn Company as often as possible!

My yarn arrived today - so exciting. It. I have been to many yarn shops in the city and this is the BEST. I will tell you that unlike other shops, this one is packed! There is a reason for that. Also, no other shops have samples that were hand knit by the owners and the staff ALL over the shop.You never have to go to a knitting book for a pattern unless you want to.They write all of their own patterns and it comes for free with the purchase of the yarn. These girls know how to knit! Any question you have they can answer it. They have fixed mistakes that were beyond repair for me! I go to the store not knowing what I want to make next and they help me put yarns together and tell me HONESTLY what looks good and what does not. I respect their opinions and do not think this makes them rude. The work they do looks like it comes from a boutique department store and they want their customers to have the same outcome. I have referred many people to the shop and they all love it! Go see for yourself what the shop is all about. Yes, you may have to wait for someone to help you. Remember, one day you may be the person they are helping, keeping them from another customer. Patience is a virtue, my fellow knitters.

I just love the Yarn company. The novice and the experienced knitter will find what they are searching for. The new look is fabulous, very NY! Never seen such a selection!

I am so happy I finally made it "Uptown", enjoyed visiting your wonderful store very much. Special thanks to "M" who went out of her way to help me create my boxy sweater using the Midnight Manhattan blue (Vintage). Started already..
