Terrific haircuts. Terrific hair cut, best I've ever had. I've been using this guy for over a year now, and he's fast, no-nonsense. Lot's of walk-in business, so if you're in a jam time-wise, Sharkey can usually take you. Reasonable prices, too.

Great haircut every time. I've tried a few places on the Upper West Side, and this is definitely the best haircut I've had for the money.

I'm a guy with short fine hair, and my hairstylist there, Jun, always does a fantastic job getting it to lie just right (at other places, my hair just sticks straight up if I don't use hair products to keep it down). I've been going to this place for a couple of years now and really appreciate the prompt, friendly service and quality haircuts every time.

AWFUL!. Worst haircut I have ever gotten in my life!! He listened to absolutely nothing I said i wanted with my hair and I have been seething about it for the last week! All I wanted was a trim, and I walked out with basically a buzz cut and out of whack layers. I specifically told Sharkey I wanted no more than 2 inches off and I did NOT want short layers because I have naturally curly hair and they do not sit right if the layers are too short. Today, I have 5 inches less of hair and it looks like Edward Scissorhands gave me my haircut. NEVER going back!

Sharkey doesnt have the edge. I have gone to Sharkey several times and everytime it got worst. He doesnt listen and does his own thing. I have very long hair and I always stress on keeping the length. Everytime I walk out, my hair is not only short but mutilated with uneven layers. It takes me a year to grow it back. After three tries I have decided enough.

Quick, Friendly, Totally Dependable. I'm a guy with pretty difficult-to-cut wavy hair, but Sharkey consistently does a fine job, and I'm in and out in 30-40 minutes, including a shampoo. Have been going there for years and have no complaints. A great neighborhood service, and the price is right.

what the...?. I went to this place becuase it's my Upper West Side neighborhood. I won't go back. I guess people have gotten some good haircuts here, but I got one of the worst looking haircuts I've ever had. I'm a guy with mid length hair. I kept repeating, leave it long, just make it look clean. My girlfriend was there and she even said, yes, I like it long, leave it long. Somehow, the point didn't seem to get through and I ended up with this weird asymetrical 1982 style flopover thing that made me look like one of the classmates on Square Pegs. The haircut was too pricey to get something that bad, and it was done by Sharkey himself. All he could say was "you'll get used to it." I didn't, and it took forever to grow out the weird angles.

Sharkey's Edge is Quality. Sharkey's Edge is a great, friendly place to get a haircut on the UWS. Shark is an excellent stylist. I know several people who go there and they are all extremely satisfied.

RIP OFF!. Bottom line: I paid $40 and the stylist spent a total around 15 minutes cuting my hair. This place deserves to go out of business. What a rip off. I could have gotten at least as good of a hair cut at any decent barber shop. The stylist told me a few times about the product he was using on my hair, trying to get me to ask him if I could buy some. He should instead have concentrated more on giving me a better haircut. 2 weeks after the cut, I went to another salon to have it fixed. If you are thinking of going here, you'd do better by choosing a different place or going to a barber shop and pocketing the money you save. To Sharkey's Edge--this is what you get for ripping people off.

Fabulous Find. Don't let its rough appearance scare you away. Sharkey's definitely lives up to its name. From short hair to long hair you will walk out like you paid a fortune when truth be told cuts don't get much cheaper than Sharkey's (even if you have Sharkey himself do the cutting). Only drawback is that they are cash only - but Sharkey's is so easy on the wallet that you'll hardly mind.
