made me sick
by foodiegirl56
i got the spicy tuna roll and the yellowtail scallion roll. i ate two pieces of the tuna and one piece of the yellowtail. i started to get a stomach ache so i stopped eating for a few minutes. i started to feel my stomach rumble so i headed to the bathroom, which was all the way downstairs. i got sick and cried. the girl in the stall next to me was sick and was crying too. i wouldn't recommend this place for a first date.
- Pros: cheaper than a high colonic
- Cons: unexpected high colonic
Get out
by HipstersoutofHarlem
If you don't like the food around Harlem, move the hell back to your suburb town where ever it is. You come to our neighborhoods and then complaint about the way things are?!!! Get the hell out! You should be more concerned about that your mere presence displaces thousands of working class families of color that have been living in this area and are the reason you moved in. Shut the hell up, and its a matter of time before you get jumped.
By the way I love Empire food, its cheap as hell!!!
Only eat at Empire if you enjoy the taste of chemicals!!!

The Worst!!! I was in the mood for Chinese and I live in harlem. I know that most of the best Chinese restaurants are downtown, but I took a chance. I Googled "Chinese restaurants that deliver" and found Empire. I ordered egg drop soup, shrimp fried rice and Salt & Pepper shrimp. The Salt and Pepper shrimp was a "chef's choice". I was very hungry and couldn't wait to eat. The soup was OK and the rice was OK too, but, I could not believe what I was tasting when I popped a shrimp and began to chew. Not only was the shrimp over cooked, it tasted as though it had been marinated in some kind of cleaning product. I asked my husband to taste one and he agreed. I'd been watching the Food Network just a week before and one of the celebrity chef's warned against buying seafood that smells of chemicals. I thought that he was just trying to be funny.
Of course, I was not given my money back, and I didn't want another dish, I was sick to my stomach!!! I'm writing this review, but, I also intend to report this restaurant to the proper authorities.
I highly recommend that you Do Not eat at Empire!!
- Pros: NONE!!
- Cons: The taste of chemicals in the food!
Uptown Chinatown
by pinatubo
The dishes are Chinatown quality, often better. Chicken breast stir-fried into an unexpectedly tender General Tso's, vegetables given a fresh Cantonese treatment, authentic Szechuan tofu, very good Dimsum, bubble tea. They also serve sushi here, but I've never had it.
- Pros: Great Chinese Food, Inexpensive, Uptown location
- Cons: Sushi at Chinese?, Chinatown atmosphere
Beer Special
by michelle770120
Big portions, perpetual Beer special: if you eat for $12 you'll get free beer!! Food is delicious (this is not just the beer talking - it really good). Decor very chrome, enamel and plastic (and lots of mirrors). Huge: can seat big groups with ease.
- Pros: GREAT food, Free Beer, Friendly Staff
- Cons: not Grande
