The Scene – The management of this modest Irish pub may have changed over the years, but the decor and most of the clientele hasn't. A motley assortment of barflies, local codgers and low-key hipsters drink and mingle as the Cranberries or the Pogues play in the background. The heavy wooden furniture looks like it was stolen from a Catholic school, multiple TVs perpetually play sports, and in the back a lone dartboard hangs below a huge, model airplane. A snarling stuffed boar's head and a fish tank with actual live fish complete the scenery. – – The Draw –…

This is the way bars used to and should be

I met a friend here after work recently. I work on and came uptown from " The Street ". (No I am not pretentious). As soon as I entered the door I said to myself "this is it, I found it!" , took off my jacket and tie and cooled out at a laid back bar where nobody gives two cents about where you went to college or how many degrees you have, how much you make a year or where you live or even who you are. Just kick back , get a cold (or a few ) VERY reasonable priced happy hour drinks and just relax. I heard some very interesting conversations. I absolutely loved the customer diversity: cultural, sexual orientation, white/blue/no collar, racial...etc , You do not feel like a stranger even when you sit at the tables across the bar. The juke box has all the Baby Boomer music from 60's and 70's Rock . They even have free hotdogs ! visit and take $$$ care of the bartender(s) if you can afford to..my words , not theirs. They are the best , each shift

  • Pros: Diverse customers, friendly bartenders, kick ass juke box
  • Cons: I did not experience any

It's been about 13 years since I've frequented the Broadway Dive - but the memories are still brand new! We were broke tourists. The manager then was Dave. He was the best host ever and the locals became fast friends. Dave even gave us a room in his apartment and introduced us to all of his friends in the equally great and friendly Cannon's bar - a couple of blocks away. Unfortunately we lost touch with Dave so if anyone knows where Dave is now please let us know - we're going back to NY in Nov 2008 and would love to catch up!

  • Pros: service
  • Cons: hard to leave!

Good Service, No Suits.

B'way Dive saved my a**. Bottom line. Reasonable drinks and real New Yorkers. Lots of cool people from all over as well. Killer bar staff, I'll be back to this neighborhood just for this little retreat. Very refreshing spot to unwind after a day of walking the city. I felt like a regular after three nights hanging at the B'way. Love this spot. Good selection of micros - just like home.

  • Pros: Locals and travelers
  • Cons: A little crowded before 11pm

Cool chill spot!

by smiley_in_nyc at Citysearch

I went to this bar with my BF and I must admit I was kinda skeptical about this place because of the name - "Broadway Dive". I thought it was going to be grungy, smelly, and full of loud, annoying drunks but it was actually the complete opposite. The bartender took care of us quickly. The crowd was mixed. They have little tables and chairs on the side if you don't feel like sitting at the bar. I wasn't the only girl in the bar which was a huge +. The jukebox plays everything from rock, to hip hop, to country. They have a bunch of TVs to watch your favorite game on and even a fish tank to keep you entertained if you don't like what's on the screens. Great drink selection too. I will definitely be going back here the next time I'm in this part of the city! :)

  • Pros: Good music and drink selection, fast service
  • Cons: None
