Worth Every Penny!!!. I started going to Salon Above about 8 years ago after a horrible cut and color that made my blonde hair greenish and bangs that were so off I did not think they could be fixed. The long and the short of it I have been getting styled by Frank the owner and now Colored by DesiEvery time I leave the shop people actually stop me to comment on the cut and color for weeks. Yes, I spend a bit more but because the color is so perfectly suited to my real color-- that most like only Desi know what it is that I dont need to go as often. The place is absolutely not cramped and the second floor is great who wants people walking by when there is foil in your hair.

My best haircut .... Although located above a diner, don't let that fool you into thinking this salon is anything less than stellar. Last night, I went for a color and was incredibly impressed by the friendly staff, relaxing open atmosphere and fabulous stylist, Desi. She listened to me, made my ashy blonde come to life and the cut was exactly what I wanted. You'll pay more than at one of those boring chains that ruin your style, but it definitely affordable and more than worth it.

Never again!. I visited this salon for the first time a week ago and will never go back! I was made to wait over a half an hour even though I had made an appointment and then I didn't even get the hairdresser I had asked for. I paid more than I normally do and got a haircut that was among the worst I've had in recent years. The hairdresser took no time or care with the simple cut I had requested. She completely messed up my bangs and missed whole chunks of hair, so now I have straggly uneven bangs at two different lengths! I'm going to get my hair fixed by another hairdresser. As for the atmosphere of the salon, it's weird being on the second floor and the space is very cramped. All in all, I had a below average experience and will not visit again.

great place. I get my hair colored on a regular basis, and after having a terrible experience at salon that my former colorist had moved to, I realized I needed to find a new place. I picked Salon Above because I'd heard good things about it, but I was really nervous about trying a new place after being so comfortable with my old colorist. This place turned out to be great. Jairo corrected the problems that had resulted from the previous salon and made my hair look beautiful. The only drawback was that he wasn't too communicative at first, which added to my nervousness, but in the end he did an excellent job. Also, I would forewarn that while this place is less expensive than other salons, it also doesn't have some of the same services (no free drinks, etc).

A wonderful haven. I have been a client of Salon Above for the past 4 years; everytime that I go in I feel wonderful. Not only do I get a great haircut or manicure or waxing or highlights but everyone is so friendly and welcoming. There is a wonderful energy that happens in the salon and that provides a tranquil but exciting experience. It is really a neighborhood salon with a universal feel to it.

TERRIBLE!!. Bad haircut and highlights! Asked for partial highlights and received $80 highlights only on the top of my head (not on the sides of my head). An overpriced rip-off. The salon is not better than Super Cuts. What a joke of a place.

a great find!. I live in the neighborhood and just happened upon the sign one day and decided to venture up the stairs to take a look. So glad that I did! I used to go downtown for spa services, now I just go around the corner! The waxing is done in a very beautiful serene environment and the results were wonderful. Walk-ins are welcome and the price is just right. This place is great!

Worth a second call !. "Dee" is fantastic. Her mode is subtle, but she listens well and I have never been disappointed. The whole staff is friendly in a sincere way.

My only complaint is that every time I need to make an appointment it takes more than one call...as the phone tends to ring unanswered. Can't figure it out.

Great environment, awesome haircut. This salon deserves much more attention! Nice environment and friendly people. None of the snobbiness that you see in so many other salons. Carmen gave me a wonderful haircut and really listened to my description of what I wanted. The price was also reasonable. Definitely recommend this place for a haircut.
