I live in the area and as I passed the bakery always loved the wonderful smells that floated in the air. Finally tried it and ordered a birthday cake for my daughter. When I walked in, we stood and waited patiently while the person ahead was assisted and when it was our turn, immediately, I was made to feel as if I should be honored to be in THEIR presence! It was as if they were doing ME a favor by allowing ME to pay THEM to make a cake for me! Anyway, we ordered our cake and picked it up at the designated time. The cake smelled glorious (Buttery delicious) and it took all I had not to forget the party and just eat it in the street! Then we arrived home, cut into it and found what appeared to be a wonderfully frosted--old and dry pound cake! My kids ate the frosting and we tossed out the cake! My second visit, I'm passing by with one of the kids, who had done something that I felt deserved a treat. I (warily), walked into the bakery and decided to order two cupcakes (Vanilla and chocolate). Again, the attitude was in the air but we ordered our cupcakes. They were awful! The Vanilla tasted a little better than shortening and sugar and the chocolate tasted as if dirt had been mixed into the frosting! NEVER AGAIN and my son, each time we pass by says "Please oh please DON'T bake my cake!" It smells great but the flavor and service is horrendous!

You must try the carrot cake!!! it is CRAZY GOOD. I think they borrowed my grandmother's recipe. Just kidding. It is moist (and remained moist for days). The cakes are tall and very satisfying. I live in Brooklyn but travel to Harlem for their carrot cake anytime I have a special occassion. I always get buttercream frosting just b/c I can't have cream cheese but I am sure it is just as good. Enjoy.

I remember when Aliyah use to bake cakes in her home. The quality is not that good anymore,on a busy day they will not hesitate to slip u an old cake!!! The young ladies she have working the counter are beyond rude!!!!!!! Her son has better customer service skills then anybody i've ever seen work there. They are so low class, for that point alone u wouldn't want to spend ur money. Aliyah is a nice person but she has lost her creativity. Anything that i have asked for she cannot do,but she doesn't hesitate to raise her prices. She has lost touch with those who got her started,"HER COMMUNITY!! " Her lack of getting in the new, along with her staff have and will continue to make her lose customers.Try TJ Bakery on 147th and 7th in Harlem
