Favorite Mexican Food on the UES – AMAZING. I go here all of the time. I recently went for my birthday. I love the Chips with 3 different types of dipping sauces. The green sauce is a little spicy and SO good. For apps the chicken quesadillas are the best. For the meal you can eat for a GREAT price if you order the chicken taco with beans and rice under $10.00 and it is filling after the chips and if you drink margaritas. The fresh fruit margaritas are SO good. I go here for the drinks with my girlfriends ALL of the time and nobody is ever disappointed.
best steak, desert – I've been going there every week for the last 4 years with my husband. Took all my frineds there. In fact, getting together with my friends there tomorrow. I tried everything on the menue and it's just great. It's a chic place but it's very cozy. On Fridays it's very busy and loud, but if you want to eat fresh authentic mexican food, this is the place to go.
Yum! – I absolutely love Maz Mezcal. My husband and I had our first date at Maz Mezcal, and we have been back many times, by ourselves or with friends. The food is delicious, especially the mole sauce. It tastes so homemade. We also love the sampler appetizer, which has a little bit of everything. The drinks are also a highlight - very good blue curacao margarita. Make reservations, since it isn't a secret, especially on weekends.
Fantastic neighborhood home – The food is great, always fresh, but best of all, the staff has been around forever! They recognize the regulars and are eager to know newcomers. The best steaks in NYC! Great for families and friends. Very good food for fair prices in today's market. The three sauces that are served with the homemade chips are the first indicators of the great things to come! I've been going for twenty years and never had a bad experience. I think if someone received rude service, they probably walked in with a nasty attitude! Maz Mezcal is my home away from home!
awful service – My girlfriends and I went here around 5pm for drinks and appetizers. The waitor forgot to bring out our appertizers, kepy taking away our drinks before we were done, and then asked us to elave if we were not oging to order an entree because other customers were waiting... this was about an hour later! Awful, inconsiderate service... I won't be coming back!
Excellent Mexican Food and Kid Friendly! – The filet mignon is a little on the expensive side, but it is definitely worth it. It is better than any steak I've had at a (more expensive) steakhouse. The other dishes are also outstanding, but stick to the house specials for the best this restaurant has to offer. The service is always great, and kids are welcome without the usual eye-rolling you get in Manhattan. The owner seems genuinely interested that you have good food, good service, and a fun time.
Good Mexican Restaurant on UES – We have eaten here a bunch of times and have always enjoyed our meals. Maz Mezcal is very good mexican food for a reasonable price. The food is not overly inventive but you can not go wrong here, especially with their seafood. The shrimp with rice was delicous and was such a large serving that I took the rest home because it was so good. The margaritas are average and the service is ok but this is a great place to eat outside during the summer.
So Disappointing! Rude Owners! – After hearing this was a fun neighborhood restaurant, I was eager to check it out. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night. I ordered the sea bass. Our food arrived and the fish was cold with congealed butter sauce forming a Jelly pool around the gelid fish. I took a bite and it was totally disgusting! I explained to our waiter the situation and he returned a few minutes later with the same dejected plate of fish (microwaved). To make matters worse, the old lady owner accosted my table demanding to know why I returned the fish. I explained the circumstance and she spat "How dare you insult our food," Um, excuse me...I was the one served the damaged plate of food! There are too many beautiful restaurants in nyc to waste time at this place! They treat their customers as crappy as their food!
Beverage Refills – My only major complaint is that every time I visit this restuarant, it is a challenge to get a refill on my beverage. They take my glass without offering a refill, and then I have to flag someone down and ask several times before my drink finally arrives. I have been to this restaurant 8 or 9 times in the last few months, and this is a constant problem.
true mexican fare at a restaurant where customers are appreciated. alway`s had a great time.
