“The ambiance and service were great, as well as the food.”
“The desserts are good too!”
“Sorry - the salad, wine and waitstaff are great but the food is ordinary in a city filled with extraordinary dinining options.”
“Because the food is so delicious for such a reasonable price, it's best to make a reservation, especially on the weekends.”

“live on 86th St and this is hands down my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood.”
“But a good, hearty bowl of hot pasta on a cold night more than made up for those shortcomings, and I'll be back soon.”

I'll be back..
We had a terrific meal here last night. I have been skeptical of Rughetta in the past (without having eaten there) because the prices are a bit higher than other similar alternatives in the neighborhood. It is easily worth it though--the portions and the quality are both significantly better than the competition. The gorgonzola gnocci and the bucatini with spicy tomato sauce were terrific, and we had enough left over for lunch the next day.
The only downsides were that our appetizer (a carpaccio) was a bit bland and that the wine selection, by the glass at least, is underwhelming. But a good, hearty bowl of hot pasta on a cold night more than made up for those shortcomings, and I'll be back soon.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!. I live on 86th St and this is hands down my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. It's tucked away on 85th between 2nd and 1st and pulls in a more sophisticated crowd. It's very small, dim and intimate...maybe only 30 can dine at a time, but I never have a problem getting a reservation and the food is spectacular. And because it's neighborhoody you get to know the staff if you go more than once and they are very very nice. Go There!
Great neighborhood Italian spot!. I went here recently and had a great experience. The ambiance and service were great, as well as the food. I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli and thought it was excellent. The desserts are good too! If you live in the area, it's a must!
Disappointment. Was looking forward to this visit and was very disappointed by the choices on the menu - limited to very traditional and heavy dishes, most, if not all of which can likely be found at 1 in 3 italian restaurants throughout the country. The restaurant did not carry thin cut chicken so anyone interested in a scallopini dish had to opt for veal. I went instead with the Valdostana and found it to be unsatisfying, and accompanied by dull mashed potatoes. Sorry - the salad, wine and waitstaff are great but the food is ordinary in a city filled with extraordinary dinining options.
Delicious Food, Pleasant Service. We loved the food and ambiance here. I had the Valdostana which was great. The service is understated but respectful and efficient. We will definitely go back.
Best on the UES!. I have NEVER had a bad meal here! It is wonderful, my fav on the ues!
Highly Recommended!. Because the food is so delicious for such a reasonable price, it's best to make a reservation, especially on the weekends. I've been here a few times and each time, the service and food are both quite good. I definitely recommend it!
