  1. The food was fair, atmosphere not as fun as Rolf's and I would not recommend the place.
  2. This is a really fun place to have a very good meal when calorie content is not at issue.
  3. Heidelberg had great food, wonderful service and a relaxing and ROMANTIC atmosphere.
  4. Who knew German food could be romantic?
  5. The huge list of German beers, the quaint and cramped ambience, the comical staff dressed in lederhosen, and the authentic German food makes dining at this restaurant a true experience.
  6. As the last remaining German restaurant in Yorkville, Heidelberg has endured for a reason - the food is excellent, atmosphere pleasing, and dirndl and lederhosen-clad staff amusing.
  7. Most people head to the Italians or French for their romantic evenings but we decided to make a switch.

  1. went there last week for lunch, the only thing i can find that i did not like was the service at the bar, even though there were very few people sitting having lunch at the bar, i was rushed to order, i wanted to sit and just take my time, but the barmaid
  2. You get a great meal for about 10 bucks, as long as you don't mind eating at the bar.
  3. The place is great, the prices are ok, the service could be faster, but most important, the beer is great!
  4. This is a casual restaurant with adequate (not great) food and decent German beer.
  5. The huge list of German beers, the quaint and cramped ambience, the comical staff dressed in lederhosen, and the authentic German food makes dining at this restaurant a true experience.
  6. nice beer selection in HUGE mugs (40 oz?)
  7. The live music is amusing, the food is pretty good, and the fresh draught beer is excellent.
  8. The food was very good, the service was prompt and very friendly (potatoe pancakes were excellent) and of course the beer selection was outstanding.
  9. Go there hungry and thirsty, if you enjoy drinking good beer and eating great German sausages then you must try the Heidelberg.
  10. there is no comparison, the only other thing i can say that is negative is that they don;t fill your glass all the way up to the top when you order a drink, in other places they fill it up all the way.

  19. As far as the food goes, the menu stays true by including authentic German cuisine, but it definitely not was the best I've ever had.

MICE mice mice mice mice mice!!!!

by big apples

If you like mice, go to Heidelberg for some live action. There were two different mice scurrying across the floor throughout our entire meal. The spaetzle is the worst spaetzle I've ever had--I should've made Kraft macaroni and cheese for dinner. My friends ordered the pork shank and jaeger sausage, they said it was o-kay. There are much better German restaurants in NYC, and the mice are better hidden.

  • Pros: Lots of mice!
  • Cons: Lots of mice!

My friends and i came for the famous glass boot of beer.Realizing they hired a new bartender(Troy). We been coming there for a long time and i just have to say,he is one of the most giving, caring, and genuine bartenders we ever met.I hope that he will succeed as an asset to the establishment.

Overrated

by NJ Analyst

This is a casual restaurant with adequate (not great) food and decent German beer. Perhaps the neighborhood (Upper East Side) is the reason why the prices are high for the food. Bread was stale. Portions were small for the prices. I had Jaegerschnitzel and a beer and the tab came to over $30 before the tip. On the other hand, the waitress was very polite but in most places outside of NYC this is the norm. I can do better in NJ.

  • Pros: Beer, service
  • Cons: Food is overpriced

Lip off Restaurant

by I hate HEIDELBERGE

We sat at the bar and asked bar menu

The bartender at the bar did not know bar menu and anyone else knew it

They charged two times more than bar menu and did not say sorry for it

This is the worst restaurant ever and should be closed this kind of lip off restaurant.

Worst restaurant forever!!

  • Pros: Worst restaurant of Germany
  • Cons: Lip off Menu

Awful service - don't bother

by nrggirl

If you want to wait an hour for a beer, two for food, and never order a second beer - by all means eat here. Their service is consistently awful (read reviews anywhere about the place) and it's really not worth getting frustrated about it your whole meal. There are better German places in NYC with infinitely better service. Run! Run far away!

  • Pros: decent food
  • Cons: waitresses could care less that you exist
