Great. great food, you can not be dispointed.
A classic Irish bar with a friendly, laid-back feel.
Ryan's Daughter (named after a David Lean film about an Irish woman who falls for a British soldier) draws a more eclectic crowd than the typical Upper East Side bar. Weeknights find a core group of regulars the bartenders know by name--or at least by drink. On weekends, the bar transforms into a bustling mix of local professionals in their late 20s to 40s.
A lively jukebox features Irish favorite sons U2 and Van Morrison, and a pool table, dart board and mini-basketball game keep patrons entertained. Try the house brew for a smooth, sweet pale ale, or sample the Gaelic coffee as you munch on free potato chips. You won't find a lot of gimmicks or glitz here--just good drinks and good company to unwind with.
Awesome. Great place, you cannot go wrong. Might have the nicest bartenders in the city, let alone the UES. Frequent buybacks and a GREAT jukebox that you can play a ton of indie/hard to find albums. Probably the best bar on the UES, and I have been to about all.......
Cool Sidestreet Hangout. Unless you know it's here, you might pass up a great upper east side bar. Cool barstaff, pool table, a basketball game that is ridiculous fun, and close to home. This place gets busy on the weekends, always loads of gorgeous women. Love it and will be back again.
Everything I was looking for. Had a group gathering for my 24th birthday on a Friday night a couple of months ago and this place was everything I was hoping for. I am not into the club scene so I just wanted to go to a laid-back place where we could all drink and chat and maybe shoot some hoops or pool while we were at it. My friends told me one of the bartenders was cute (I didn't see him since everyone was getting drinks for me) and both of them were friendly. They all told me afterwards how much they liked the place. It was nice because it wasn't packed nor was it deserted. Just the right amount of people. The hoops game definitely entertained the boys and the rest of us took turns playing pool. I would definitely recommend this place if you are laid-back like me and just want to chill with some friends.
a great local. Nothing pretentious at all about his bar; great Guinness, best bartenders on the upper east for sure; been my local since the first time I walked in - great staff, friendly crowd, going either alone or with friends you'll have a good time if thats what you want, or be left alone to ponder life over a drink or 2 if thats what your in the mood for. Plus, free roast turkey on the weekend..! make sure to say hello to Henrio while there, the hardest working man on the UES..!
Good times, good times.... Been there on a few separate occasions, and always end up having a great time. Whether it's the music (fueled by a very modern jukebox with relatively good selections), the crowd, the basketball game, or the alcohol (most likely), I always leave happy and satisfied. Surprisingly good amount of room, you can always find space for yourself. But that's not to say that it's not poppin, because it usually is. Located off a street, it's a little hidden, which adds to its appeal. Check it out, and beware: once you start on the basketball, be prepared for a lengthy stay at the machine.
Beer, fun and Pawar. Upper East Side bar that draws an ecletic crowd. Beer is pretty cheap ($3.50 for a bottle of Coors Light) and buybacks are pretty frequent. They have an addicting basketball game, darts as well as a competitive billiard table, hi-lited by the man who claims to have invented the game being a frequent customer. Draws a mid 20's to mid 30's crowd, predominately females looking to meet up with NYC Police/Law types. Very strict on adhering to the rules, otherwise you will be banned from the place for good. During the week, it's pretty empty, but gets crowded on most Friday/Saturdays with a lot of locals.
Fun, Laid-Back Pub. The service was excellent. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. There was a good selection of drinks and they were all reasonably priced. My group of 4 had at least 7 drinks among us and the bill didn't top $30. The bar offers free chicken wings and potato chips. There were several TVs with sports on, a pool table, and an internet jukebox. Popular, but not trendy. The crowd was 20s-30s, somewhat preppy, attractive, but laidback and relaxed. This is my favorite UES bar (so far).
