“Service was great and friendly, menu was creative and had a wide variety, and great beer.”
“Price could come down, but for good food it's worth it.”
“The menu is extremely interesting and deep, and it changes seasonally.”
“It is a good place to be romantic and enjoy each other's company.”
“had such a great meal that I talked my boss into walking 40 blocks to go back when we were in the city on business.”
“Thanks to the waiter, who helped us to choose a nice bottle of "Margaux" from Bordeaux, congratulations to the chef !”
“Brasserie Julien has an inviting ambiance, delicious food at reasonable prices, excellent service, and a world-class bartender.”
“went for dinner with two friends and all of us were raving about our meals--the best steak i've had in a long time, and the duck and salmon were also delicious.”
Simple, don't go here. The service is as bad as you can find. It is as if there is a new staff every night. The waitress told the table next to us that the house chardonnay was from Israel but she wasn't really sure. Huh? It's the white you serve by the glass. Crazy. They brought our apps and entrees at the same time, the waitress blamed the other waitress who she said was new. Even though she never interacted with our table. Bottom line, there are much better french establishments in the neighborhood. The service has never been good here but now it is at an all time level of crap. unfortunately the food has followed into the crapper.
Tarot Readings Too. I met the new Tarot Card Reader at the bar the other night. She gave me a really insightful Tarot Reading. We had a few drinks and Great Mussels! Friendly place!
Live Music at Brasserie Julien. There are very few places in NYC where you can get great music with no cover. Brasserie Julien has a unique atmosphere because of its duos Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. See you there!
Jazz Class at Brasserie Julien. Brasserie Julien is soon to start Jazz classes led by the musicians who perform there.
Horrible Brunch. If I could I've given negative rating to this place since they don't even deserve a one star. The place stinks used oil. We waited for over an hour for our omelets to arrive and mine was completely undercooked. If you don't want to spoil your mood on a Sunday morning don't go there.
Nice Manager. To teh person who made a review a few comments back. The manager also introduced me to someone at teh bar and we have been communicating professionally now. That was very kind of him. The place is very friendly indeed!
Nice activities.
One of the reasons I love Brasserie Julien and keep going back is because of all activities there is to do there.
It is not a place where you can go to eat and leave. It is a great place to go when you're bored, want to meet people and be mentally stimulated.
Brasserie Julien is true to the Brasseries in Paris which I have visited many times. When you go to a Brasserie in Paris you go there with the intention of seeing your neighbors, meeting new people, listening to live music, and to engage in topics of conversation.
Brasserie Julien continues this tradition with live jazz, wine and food trivia nights, chess tournaments, and displaying local artist's works.
They are tres authentique!!!
great atmosphere.
i wish i knew that place before
the staff was perfect and the owners very friendly
they introduce me to other client at the bar and we became friends later.
i never seen that before and on top of that the food is good
jazz is perfect
OK But Not Worth the Price. Brasserie Julien is pretty, romantic and not too stuffy. Service is friendly but they get a little overwhelmed later in the evening as the place gets more crowded. The back is roomier and the live music won't be so loud. Appetizer specials were interesting and delicious. We had to send both entrees back - one was way too raw and the other inedibly chewy. Both were fixed/replaced with no attitude but it was still aggravating. Dessert was the chocolate offering but it was a complete disappointment - tiny and average tasting. Overall, the place is too pricey for what you get and there are too many other choices to go back to this one.
Great bistro atmosphere, great bistro food. The atmosphere is warm and cozy (and has slightly funky elegance) in the winter, and is open and relaxed in the summer, more or less spilling out onto the sidewalk. The service is attentive and professional and the food is what I think Bistro food should be: flavorful, satisfying and reliable with enough creativity to be interesting but not so much that you don't get what you expect when you order a classic dish. Prices are standard fro french bistros in the city. I've gone with my parents, with my girlfriend and with my friends, and I've gone for dinner and brunch - always a good time.
