RIP OFF!!!! CROOKS!!!!!.
The food was very good and the service was great but they pulled a fast one on us.... Beware!
You walk in and they do not give you menu's. They tell you the specials and do not tell you the prices. I asked for a menu so they gave me one and everything seemed to be fairly priced....BUT the specials where of course not on the menu. My firend ordered the Truffle Resotto special and I had the chicken. We had an appitizer, soup and a salad with 2 cocktails.
I was expecting a bill for a around $150.00 WRONG!!!!!
It was $398.00 for 2 people.... thats because the pasta special alone was $140.00 just by itself. No one warned us.
Sistina is delicioso. The evening started out slow when our snooty waiter made fun of the way I said, the veala scalopini. And it was valentine's day, so they gave us the "special" valentine's day menu, but the most special part was how they added $15 to every appetizer and entree - with only half the usual selection. They didn't even have the veal scalopini that I had waited all day to eat. But then it got better. The eggplant parmesan was so delicious but it wasn't big enough. I then ordered the branzino (fish). They showed it to me before they cooked it. I named him Juan. Juan was so fresh he almost jumped off my plate. It was so delicious that I "juan"ted to have more. My girlfriend's salad was diced in a blender, and she appreciated not having to chew so much. We would have liked them to pour the wine faster and annunciate when they described the dessert menu. The complimentary biscotti was fantastic. All in all, a great time. PS the eggplant was great, and they gave us the secret recipe to make it at home.
best business dinner meeting ever!. My Wisconsin clients were thrilled with the choice of restaurant. Superb wine menu .. enjoyed some great Brunello with great "takes like my grandma made" Italian food. All five of us walked away completely satisfied and wanting to plan another evening at Sistina!
Worst service I ever encountered!. From the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out, we were treated so poorly. The service was awful--never in my life have I had such rude and inattentive service. My husband, daughter, and I went to Sistina after seeing the great reviews. Our waiter never got us menus until we asked for them 15 minutes after we were seated, and the service was so incredibly unpleasant in every way imaginable. Will never go here again, and would never recommend this place to anyone. The food was good, not great--certainly not worth the hostile and rude atmosphere.
Delightful service, great food and excellent grappa. The service at Sistina was excellent. The food was really good with a mix of traditional cuisine. The dessert and after drink service was extremely good and great for a small crowd.
Not the best Italian in town.. I loved the appetizers but wasn't too fond of the entree. For appetizers I had their crabcakes, which was delish!! And I also had the eggplant which was delicious as well. For entree I had their branzino which was, sad to say, mediocre at best. Was not impressed with decor nor service. Oh, and I had their special chocolate cake for dessert and it was pretty good.
unrealized potential. This small restaurant could be charming but the acoustics are poor; it easily gets so noisey that polite conversation is virtually impossible. The night I was there two tables were so loud that the whole restaurant went totally silent at their outlandish behavior and the owner did nothing. The owner can also be charming until the orders are taken and then he becomes increasingly aloof and preoccupied. I found that as the evening progressed, the service became very spotty and I was shocked by having to ask for a second cup of coffee and the usual complementary cookies. Though the food may be good, you can find equal quality elsewhere in much more amenable and refined atmospheres. If you like street life, this is your place.
Hidden Gem. One of my top three restaurants in all of Manhattan. The food is incredible- fresh ingredients, highest quality, and they always have amazing specials. The proprietor is extremely charming and the staff is attentive and lovely. Highly recommended for a special experience.
Sistina.
Probably among the top 10 authentic Italian menus East of the Mississippi. Effecient, friendly and informed service. Engaged staff.
Quality of the food and it's preparation was outstanding. Some of the best mussels, osso bucco and rabbit we've had in decades.
A bit pricey but well worth every cent.
We wish we knew it existed when we lived in the city.
Sistina.
As a dining experience probally rates as the best food in the world. Wine list is exceptional, food is of the highest quality and service is very good.
Restaurant owner personally oversees every part of the operation as is always on the premises.
