Best Italian restaurant by the Met.. Great Italian restaurant, before or after a visit to the Metropolitan Museum.

After walking all morning around the museum, it felt like an oasis.

You can't beat the $25 Prix-Fixe menu for Lunch, which has a lot of good choices. It's not your ordinary menu with soup or salad for appetizer and not your basic chicken, chicken and chicken entrees.

It also includes cappuccino or espresso and a plate of homemade biscotti.

The food was outstanding, served by professional staff and the ambiance very cozy and relaxing.

Great wine list and also choices for quality wines by the glass.

I'm sure it must me great place for a romantic dinner as well, especially if they are paying so much attention to their food for lunch.

What a veal chop...... An italian restaurant that does not disapoint... Had one of the best veal chops i have ever had.. My friend had a fresh pasta dish out of this world and let me tell you the service was perfect... The owner was even nice enough to help me pick out a great bottle of wine that was in my budget... all in all i highly recomend this slice of Italy

VERGOGNA - the owner ask me to pay the gratuity twice. I went to Giovanni Venti Cinque in october 30 - after our (good) meal, I received the bill with 15% included (nobody ask me before), paid it in full - and the owner told me - in NYC you must to pay gratuity!!! It's true that he felt much shame at it and said me their apologizes, but it put me out of conceit with the day and the lunch. Rate after this? ZERO.

Best Italian in all of New York!!!. This place is phenomenal!!! Amazing I hadn't heard about it before and just happened to be passing and saw the menu from the sidewalk. The food is unbelievable, truly world-class. I've been back several times since first discovering Giovanni's and each time have been thrilled by fabulous specials. The setting is charming and intimate, an oasis of quiet from the hub-bub of Manhattan. The service in refined and impeccable. It's not inexpensive, but for a wonderful dining experience that you will long remember, I strongly recommend you try Giovanni's!!!

A wonderful surprise. After spending an afternoon at the Met, we stumbled upon this restaurant. The menu looked a little pricey, but appropriate for the 83rd and Madison adress. The staff was very friendly and greeted us prompltly upon our arrival. We were seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant. I must say that the decor was beautiful. The wine selection was amazing and we ordered a wonderful Cabernet based on our waiter's recommendation.I ordered a truffle pasta to start, while my friend ordered the caprese. Both were delicious. For our entrees we ordered a filet mignon and a seafood pasta. Not only was the food delicious, but the presentation of the food was absolutely beautiful. The dessert menu included itelms such as tiramisu, gelato, tartufo, and a flourless cohoclate cake, however, being pressed for time we had to pass. We never felt rushed or ignred. Next time I am in the area I will be going back.

I highly reccomend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good place to go after the Met or even just for a romantic dinner in the city. Everything about the food and the wine was amazing. It is obvious that the quality of the food you are getting is excellent and is worth the price. They know what they are doing and know how to take care of their customers.

Step from the Metropolitan Museum. What an experience,

We were two couples passing by this lovely elegant Italian restaurant, after a visit at the Met, on December 20th.It looked very busy but we took a chance and asked if they had a table for four. We were told if we could wait 15-20 minutes we could be seated. Of course we agreed (after all it was 7:30 p.m. and we had no other place to go) and after 20 minutes they gave us a complimentary glass of wine apologizing for the wait

A few minuted latter we got a nice table by the window.

The service was very attentive and the food was outstanding.

I had the artichoke appetizer with pistachio and parmigiano and the Branzino, my husband loved his truffle ravioli appetizer and the veal chop. Our friends had the buffalo mozzarella with tomato- basil and two Dover sole. The portions were just right and the presentation very nice.

Finally we all shared the tiramisu and the ricotta cheese cake. They were very light and excellent.

I can't wait to go back on my next visit to the Museum when the girls get together for lunch. They have a prix-fixe lunch for $25

Best Dover Sole. My husband and I have been to this lovely Northern Italian many times after a visit to the Metropolitan Museum just a block away.

We love the $25.00 Prix-Fixe Lunch which we can have even at 3 p.m.

For Dinner they have many specials including eclectic dishes such as Truffles and Dover Sole (if you like Truffle$$$) and the regular menu with a lot of wonderfool sellections.

I had the Dover Sole once and I thought it was the best. They charged us $39.50 for one fish but I guess you get what you pay for.

During the winter we realized that is a good idea to make a reservation after a lecture or a concert, but the last time we had Dinner which was in July, they only had a few customers.

I guess all their regulars are away during the summer months. Ater all if you can live in a neiborhood like this, you can afford to do so...

Big surprise!!. First surprise was that even though we walked in to the almost empty restaurant we were asked if we have reservation? During our entire visit only 3 people entered. Menu was very general and did not included prices for beverages and deserts. We've ordered recommended specials: two fish dishes and the duck. Food was well prepared and tasty. In addition to the main course we had two minestroni soups, two deserts, two glasses of house wine, two coffees, sparkling water, one coke. Total bill - $205.00 They must be joking. We will keep this bill as a memoir of the terrible taste after a good meal. The most redicoulus part: Soup -$10.00(each), beverage - $42.00 (wine not included). I am sorry that even after registering the complaint no one the manager was too busy (doing nothing) to talk to us..... I don't think we will be rushing back soon.
