Blackmailed For A Better Service – It doesn't even deserve a star!!! but I have to click at least 1. After ordering a beer a vodka and tonic and a ginger ale I picked up my change after paying to which I was verbally attacked by a barman saying I hadn't tipped him, I explained we were having a bunch of drinks and he would be looked after. He then replied he wasn't paid at Brandy's and that was how he was paid and that if I wanted a prompt service I better tip him. This I found as blatant blackmail so we left and within a 30 second walk found a much nicer bar with a better atmosphere.
Strange thing is I was with a New York Casting Director to which these so called barmen/actors wish to impress. Well guess what...they didn't!!!!!
Best Saturday night ever!!! – We went to Brandy's last night because a friend recommended it to us while we were in town. We had a blast! The music was fantastic. That piano player was amazing, he knew every song without looking at his music. Then the staff all took turns singing. I don't know where they found these people, but they are all so talented. Reading the other reviews, I was skeptical, but nobody was rude to us, in fact, they sang almost everything that we requested.
There really need to be more places like this. It's so amazing to see live performers! I may have to open one up in London when I get home!!
RUDE – Thanks, Brandy's staff for taking what was a really fun night and making me feel like total shit. I've had a lot of tough jobs in my life, and I've always been gracious to customers no matter how difficult (and BTW, it is not difficult to be nice to me because I am a good customer who tips really well - and DID tip you well only to be treated like crap). I have NO tolerance for your lack of customer service.
I will not return, nor will any of my friends.
So much fun – I went for a friend's birthday party on a Monday night. We got there at 10:30 and the place was about 3/4 full and we got a few tables. There is seating for about 50, bar/standing room for about 40. We had a waitress who was very fun, personable, and also a singer. We were treated by hearing songs from the other staff members and a few wonderful patrons. The whole atmosphere was low key and fun, like a great party where we're all in the living room crowded around the piano. Some of the music we heard - Your Song, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Me and Bobby McGee, Time After Time, Galileo, Georgia on My Mind, Midnight Train to Georgia, Seasons of Love, a Lynyrd Skynyrd medley, and even D*ck in a Box from SNL. It was a great evening.
Prices - Wine $7, Bud $5, Coke $3.50, Vodka Cran $8.
Great bar! Always fun live music – My friends and I go here about once a week for the last 2 years. Everyone that works here sings, and there is live piano music every night. We always have a great time and they let us get up and sing sometimes. Good prices on their drinks too. If you are looking for a bar with fun, live entertainment, it's really the best in the area. We sing a lot of 80's songs. IT ROCKS!!!!
AMAZING bar!! Live music and singers. Go have fun there! – I just moved into the area and stumbled by Brandy's and had no idea what it was. We were looking around the east side and went in. It's like a piano bar with someone playing all night and then the staff, bartenders and waittress sing too. We ended up getting up to sing Suddenly Seymour, we had a blast. It's not like Karaoke, they don't have the words, but they'll let you sing if you tip the pianist and know most of the words. We didn't plan on going, but we stayed till 3am! We will be back over and over again. The guys recognize us and treat us well, and we tip the pianist and singers well, so everyone wins!!! SO GLAD we found this place!! Haven't ever seen anyone be rude here, like someone here said, but then who goes into a bar expecting not to drink.....its a business, hello? Go in, order a couple of drinks and have a great time!!
Rudest People I have ever encountered! DO NOT GO HERE! – The bartenders here were by far the rudest people I have ever encountered in an NYC bar. First, I asked for a water and was informed that I needed to get a drink because they have a "2 drink minimum". So I ordered a soda. My friends ordered their drinks. We wanted to leave and asked for the check- which was brought to us even though we all had one drink each. -clearly the policy was not enforced and just a way to get them money-. I went to the bar to pay, and was yelled at for not leaving a good enough tip in front of the whole bar. The tip was fine- 15% of the bill- and considering the fact that I was forced into getting a drink, I was not too pleased and 15% was kind. The music here was good but the employees' behavior completely ruined this experience for my friends and I. We will not be returning here, and will take our business to another piano bar. DO NOT go here unless you enjoy being berated by employees.
Love this place! – Aww...I love this piano bar! I take all my visiting friends here and everyone has loved it too. It's such a fun place and the staff is always friendly. If you want a unique and fun place to hang out then this place is it.
Lively tunes, lively fun! – I've always enjoyed Brandy's. It is a great place with lots of character; from regulars to people just stopping in. You'll not see a piano bar in Manhattan with such a diverse crowd from night to night. Sometimes the place does get a little crowded but it is only a testament to how great it is. Be sure and NOT get in the way of the young 20-somethings and single middle-aged women when they're drinking alcohol and a Billy Joel song comes on!!!
Great for live entertainment, lots of fun! – I went here on Friday with friends from out of town. I had such a BLAST! The music was great, the pianist and performers that work there are amazing! Then the bartenders started playing percussion, it was so much fun. My friends loved it as well. Great place for live music, good prices on drinks, fun staff of singers, they even bought us shots. I'm just afraid that my friends will go without me!
