Housed in its original location since 1975, Comic Strip Live is one of the longest-running venues for comedy in the world. A front bar area with stools and booths leads to the showcase room, which seats 200 in the traditional round table/chair layout. The menu (from nearby restaurants) offers Chinese, Italian and Mexican cuisine. During the week, up-and-coming comedians develop and perfect new material. Once they've passed the test, they're slotted for the coveted Friday, Saturday and Sunday slots--which also feature headliner comics doing 10- to 15-minute sets. Major stars who began their…

Really fun place!

It's a little cozy, BUT you get a great view of whoever is on stage no matter where you sit! and there's a two drink minimum, but it's a comedy club. What would you expect?

We went a few days ago and saw nine great comics; seriously, there wasn't a weak link in the bunch. Most of the comics were ones we were already familiar with via Last Comic Standing or VH-1's bevy of talking heads shows. We got our tickets and made our reservation--you need both for weekend shows.

Basically, we laughed our asses off. And, really, asses are overrated anyway!

Definitely go on a night with a large line-up, go early if you want a seat close to the stage, and definitely stay the main set ends as occasionally they bring on random newbies for short "test" sets which is cool to see, its always important to support those young aspiring comics after all!!

  • Pros: Laughed a TON!

Horrible costomer service!

by CyanSun at Citysearch

I went to th Comic Stip a few weeks ago. The show was pretty good, even though $20 entrance and $20 drink minimum was a little expensive.

I provided my name and email address for them to keep me updated on theirs shows and special promotion.

Here is the horror story: the lady from the club called and asked me to give her my address so she can send me some promotional tickets. She said she can email it to me, but she needs the address. I said that I am moving soon and I don't have a definite address yet. She said "ARE YOU MOVING IN THE NEXT TWO MINUTES?" very sarcastically. The whole tone of her conversation with me was very mean and sarcastic. LIke "GIVE ME YOUR ADRESS!"

Well, I liked the club. I was going to go out there more with my friends. But, guess what, lady. You can send those promotional tickets to somebody else.

I hope the management will read this review and train your staff better.

Wish I could give Zero Stars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The show SUCKED !!!!!!!!!!!!! Many comics seemed like they hadn't ever been on stage before! Especially annoying because when I made our reservation, I asked who was on the show and they told me the comics all had tv credits. The waitress had major attitude and seemed like she didn't want to be there. The outrageously high prices make you feel like they have their hand in your wallet to get ALL of your money because they know you are never coming back any way.

  • Pros: the distance to the exit is short
  • Cons: everything from when you enter until when you leave
