Great Laughs – I went to see a 10:30 show a couple of fridays ago with my girls. One of my friends Loves live comic, me on the other hand never cared so much. I'm so glad she talked me into going because we had such a great time. The comics were all funny but James Smith had me laughing my A$$ off. Our drinks were a bit strong, and thats the way I like it, was worth every penny.
I want to go again with a group of frinds. Hopefully soon!
Wouldn't come back here – I love going to comedy clubs and this was the only one in the city I hadn't been to. We went Saturday night. Let me start with the positive. The entire staff was friendly and efficient. Now the negative. Aside from last comedian, the show wasn't funny at all. Also, the prices are insane! I usually don't mind every comedy club's two drink minimum policy, except when I'm paying the same price for a drink as what I'd pay for an entree in a nice restaurant. Add the pricey cover charge and you have one of, if not the most expensive comedy clubs in the city.
Great Comedy, Delicious Drinks!! – Some friends recommended this club, and am so happy I went with them. From the time we walked in until we left, the energy of this club was fun. I am a fan of stand up comedy, and the comics had me in tears (of laughter), the host was pleasant, my waitress was great. and my drinks were delicious. Like most of the comedy clubs I've been to in the city, the prices are a bit higher than a just a regular bar, but for the performances I saw, it was definitely worth it. I can't wait to go back.
LMFAO! – came here over the weekend. HAD A BLAST! comedians were hilarious. drinks were strong and delish! great service. place was crowded and line to get in was long but moved fast. we were seated pretty quickly and our waitress got all our drink orders right away. there were 4 or 5 comedians. all were super funny and we were laughing our a**es off! check out the club. you won't be disappointed. try their slutttty shirley temple when you do!
Wish we woud have gone to the Comedy Cellar instead !!! – When we arrived, they didn't have a place for us to wait inside prior to the show, so we had to wait outside on the street and when it's freezing out like like it's been lately- or raining out, it's NOT a fun way to start your evening. They line you up as they file you into a small room. They cram you in like sardines into your table. We were seated with others at our table.
We thought we got a good deal when we bought our tickets from a guy on the street in Times Square for $10 instead of the usual $25 per person. That's how they get you- they sell you discounted tickets then pick your pocket with obscene prices for food and drinks. The drinks were around $14-$15 each and there's ALWAYS a 2 drink minimum per person. Sodas were $10 each. Nachos which were only a couple of handfuls of stale chips w/ canned sauce heated up at the bar like in a movie theater were $14 & the room temperature small pizza (for one person) was $17.
There were 5 comedians. The first three were average at best. One did jokes we had all heard via those joke emails that are forwarded from your friends. Another did a lot of audience work where the butt of his jokes were the audience members. Neither we nor the audience liked the first three very much. The last two were funny.
The bill for the 4 of us was $250 (w/ tip but without the usual $25 cover charge per person because, as mentioned earlier, we bought our 4 discounted tickets for $40 on the street). Adding in the cost of the discounted tickets the cost was $290 and without those tickets it would have been $350 !!!
The next day, my friend asked me why we didn't go to the Comedy Cellar because they are known to have the best comedians in the city (and country) and the prices are 1/3 of what we paid here. Plus, just in the last year he's seen Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Ray Romano & Dave Chappelle at the Comedy Cellar! Boy, do I wish I had spoken to my friend before we went here !!!
Best Comedy Show EVER!!!! – OMG!! This place was GREAT. A couple of friends took me for my birthday last weekend. I had a ball. First of all the drinks are huge and strong. When I saw the price I kind of freaked out, but after having it, I was very satisfied! We had soo much fun. The comedians were great. My favorite was the host Ray Ellin. He is the greatest. There wasn't one dull moment during the show. My girlfriend almost pis**d her pants...lol. We are definately going back for my sister's birthday. GOOD TIMES!!!
MOST EXPENSIVE and LEAST FUNNY CLUB IN NYC – THE WORST COMEDY CLUB WE EVER WENT TO!!! To top it off- there was a large table of loud drunks that kept heckling throughout the show but no one from the club said anything to them !!! They completely wrecked the already lackluster show for everyone in the audience. Some people walked out in disgust half way through the show.
To make matters even worse, (hard to believe that could happen) the drink and food prices were unbelievably high. They tell you when you make a reservation that there's a 2 drink minimum but two of my friends who don't drink, had only a couple of sodas and they charged them $20 each because what they don't tell you is that there's actually a $20 drink minimum per person (on top of the already high cover charge) ! When I inquired, they said the average drink price is $15 each (whoa!) so when you order 2 alcoholic drinks you would automatically reach the $20 minimum but with non-alcoholic drinks, everyone gets charged $20 whether you have 2 sodas, 2 coffees or 2 juices!!! Unbelievable! When we tried to explain to the waitress that no one told us that before receiving the check, she said "you must be from a small town and not know how the big city works". I then informed her I was born in NYC and she said "then you must just be cheap". Everyone at our table was blown away! BTW- our check for 5 people (without a tip, of course) was over $300 and none of us had more than 2 drinks each!!! Needless to say, none of would ever step foot in that club again. We recommend you do the same.
HORRIBLE COMEDY CLUB – We just checked out the Comic Strip Live on the upper East side and would NEVER go there again! The place was dirty (our glasses had either lipstick or gunk on them), the drinks were INSANELY high priced and the show was SO NOT FUNNY with comedians that chose excessive vulgarity and taking mean shots at the audience over simply being funny. Wow what a total waste of an evening!!!!!!!!!
overpriced, not worth it – After I heard good things about it, I want to see if it was really that good. The drinks were expensive ( beer-$10, coctails $12 or $13) , there was barely any alcohol in the drinks, the place was crampted, no lounge area, the seats were uncomfortable, most comedians were average. The best one was JJ Ramirez, he was the only one who made me laugh seriously & the audience loced him. The worst comedian was Paul Mercurio, he may have won an emmy, but he wasn't funny AT ALL . He made me yawn, very boring. Anyways, not worth the money . I'm pretty sure there are better clubs out there that charge less for the same quality, and just because famous comedians came out of there, doesn't mean the club was good, but rather the comedians.
Best comedy club – I brought some friends there and I have to say that were all left avid fans of this place. It sets a standard when it comes to comedy and comedy clubs. The best comedy joint that I`ve ben to so far ! The night that we were there Pete Correlle was there getting preped for his hour long comedy central recording. Top peformance by the guy along with all the other comics. keep us laughing !
