This place needs help. Upon entering Solar Salon it does appear sleek, modern and fairly impressive however once the staff member looks up and decides to acknowledge you, their service goes downhill. The "manager" is rather dry and not very welcoming. The weekend girl has absolutely no personality and neither have customer service skills nor have ever cracked a smile.

The bulbs are not kept up so make sure you go as soon as they change them- maybe once every 6 months if that. Often the headphones are broken. Do not ever ask for credit or you will get a dirty look! Save your money!

Long Term Tanner. I have been a part of Solar Salon since it began on Lexington Avenue. I have never burned or had dry skin. You are allowed at most 10 minutes in the beds and that is enough. Sure overeaters gain weight. Over tanners my have a problem on the beach. I have practiced moderation for all the years I have tanned and must say- many envy my natural tan. I tried others before. At Solar Salon I feel like they care about me. I like that.

HORRIBLE Tanning salon. This salon is a good place to stop to use their bathroom but if you're looking for a tan..DO NOT come here. Staff is mostly unhelpful..with the exception of one person...lotion dispensers are broken,..,most machines are only partially working...and on top of it all...they dont change their bulbs so they dont make you tan...SUX.

HE CREATES THIS ENVIRONMENT WITH THE WHOLE STAFF AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WALKED INTO YOUR OWN FAMILY.....A TOUCH OF LOVE. THE BEDS ARE SUPERIOR AND IMMACULATE! Excellent, Clean, Knowledgeable i luv it. I am very impressed with this place and have gone for a year now. It's always very clean and sanitized, the place is inviting, the staff is always friendly and extremely knowledgeable on tanning but non-pushy in terms of sales. I would recommend it to anyone. Also, the prices are completely reasonable, and if you can go in the morning hours (when it's least busy anyway), you pay $18 bucks and they always give you a free tanning lotion!!

Very Traumatic Experience. I bought a package with this company awhile ago, and although they were very expensive, the tanning was always decent even ig the wait and the staff was not. Not too long ago though, I went in to tan and I accidently left my diamond ring and earrings on one of the little tables next to my bed. As soon as I got to the street I realized and turned back. There was a girl cleaning the bed and my jewelry was gone. When I asked her where she put my jewelry she of course hadn't seen it. The managaer was a bumbling idiot and I have since filed a complaint with Better Business. If you have to tan do it somewhere where they have honest employees.

Best Electric Beach in Manhattan. Don't waste your time at other tanning salons (esp. Beach Bum - YUCK). At the UES location, staff are friendly & helpful, there's virtually no wait time & the place is immaculate. Plus: you don't need a degree in figuring out the sophistication of all the various types of tanning beds, because there's only one type, which is the GOOD one! Free Lotion, too!
