My daughter loves it!. I couldn't agree more with the positive reviews posted here. My daughter, now 2.5 years, has been at Wee Care for a year. What can I say: she loves it and we are very happy with our choice. I am consistently impressed with the teachers, who are obviously very dedicated and caring. The children have a diverse range of activities that are creative, energising, and fun. The teachers regularly take the time to talk to us at pick-up time about what the children did during the day, any concerns they may have, and so forth. I have also found the Director to be very professional, responsible, and approachable. Importantly, I often get very positive feedback from friends/other mothers who see my daughter with her class out at the park or on other field trips in the neighborhood, as they comment that the teachers are extremely attentive to the children and that my daughter always seems to be having a great time with the activities that they are engaged in. It is true that the physical space is not ideal; that said, the school makes a concerted effort to get the children out and about and at the end of the day, our daughter seems to be having so much fun that the indoor space doesn't seem to be an issue. I would recommend Wee Care wholeheartedly to parents who are looking for a nurturing, caring, and fun environment for their children.
Warm, Caring Staff.
I started my son here at 10 weeks old in the infant room. It was a wonderful year for us both. Going back to work was hard, but I visited often and was always welcomed. The relationship we had with the caregivers and the director really flourished time passed. I felt like they were very responsive to his needs and very loving.
I give the staff 5 stars, the 4 star review is for the very small space and the price. Though it is not the most expensive place in the area, it is still a lot of money. Daycare staff is generally not paid as well as they should be, I believe this is true at Wee Care, also. The basement space isn't beautiful, and the infant room isn't divided into a separate sleeping area, but we all understand space is at a premium in Manhattan. It would be nice to feel like more of the "tuition" was reinvested in remodeling the space and paying staff more then the minimum.
I am definitely glad he spent his infant year with a variety of wonderful adults and other children, rather then with an individual nanny. I would recommend Wee Care to other parents that live in the area.
On an upswing. After being on the waitlist for over a year, my 2 and a half year old daughter has been at Wee Care for a year and a half. Although when we began there was a director who many didn't care for and turnover seemed higher than desirable, in the last 6+ months the Center has really blossomed. My daughter absolutely loves the time she spends there, adores the friends she has made, loves the teachers and director, and has learned an incredible amount. Her class has a monthly calendar which includes daily planned activities - eg, art projects, teachers take the kiddies to Carl Schurz, the library, even a lunch field trip to Big Daddy's (and I believe are responsible for my daughter's improved behavior in restaurants!). During "Letter L" week they took the students to a store to buy lemons and then they made lemonade. Our family couldn't be happier with our daughter's care and development - she is truly thriving.
No love. The director does not care about the staff. There is not eeoc in this center. The director has a certain clique of people she would help and the rest of the staff gets nothing. The directors clique gets special treatment, they can choose who they want to work with and get other staff members fired.
Overpriced, Filthy Daycare Center. Do not make the same mistake we did. This basement daycare center is the worst of the worst. The owner does not care about the school and does not spend one penny of the overpriced tuition on the children. It is VERY dirty and I saw rodent feces on the floor where children play on more than one occasion. The teachers are underpayed and are not given the supplies they need. My daughter loves her new center - Jellybean. Take a visit, you will love it. My wife and I also liked Bright Horizons which is also in the area.
We love Wee Care!. My child and I couldn't be happier with Wee Care. My daughter goes into the school everyday with a smile and is smiling when I pick her up. On the weekends she always asks me to bring her to school. The teachers are great and so are the Directors. Contrary, to the review posted the Director is very friendly and has made numerous improvements to the school since her arrival. I feel confident and comfortable when I am at work that my child is safe, loved and having a blast.
