What People Are Saying About John's Pizzeria

The Space – The bright and spacious John's Times Square bares little resemblance to its legendary Greenwich Village forebear. There's a sweeping staircase to the second floor tables, with a giant mural depicting the cityscape across the wall. Happily, the acclaimed brick-oven pizza hasn't changed. – – The Pizza – A tomato and cheese pie--alas, slices aren't available--will run you $12, and each topping will add another couple of bucks to your tab, but it's more than worth it. Fresh garlic, sausage and pepperoni are all wonderful toppings, but don't pile too many on:…
Terrible Pizza & Over Priced...Simply Not Good!
by Honest Critic at Citysearch
Pizza was not good at all!
Thin semi burnt crust with a few scattered toppings left us feeling cheated out of $26! Seriously there are MUCH better eats in NYC!
Don't waste your time or money!
- Cons: Pizza was Terrible, Seriously! Try Dominoes instead
Pizza at the Bar
by justinfred at Citysearch
My wife and I come to New York a few times a year to get our pizza fix and check out a few comedy shows. Things were a little busy in the restaurant so we sat at the bar and had a lot of fun. We ended up staying for two hours! We're going back tomorrow to bring a pizza home with us.
- Pros: Great Pizza, Fun bar
- Cons: You'll go off your diet!
Top 5 Worst Post-Theater Experience
by RHD Actor at Citysearch
If you want to go to a place where the first member of the staff you encounter is extremely rude and where the "rules" are so inflexible you cannot have people join you later in a post-theater flexible way, this is your place. I will never go here again and would never recommend it to anyone. A concierge at the Marriott on the East Side recommended it to us and was shocked by our experience. She says she will also discontinue recommending it. Owner's should review their personnel and anti-customer "policies" (if in fact they are really policies and not just the ill-temper of some disgruntled staff).
I shudder to think what table service is like if this is what meets you at the entrance.
I grew up in the restaurant business so know a little of what I speak. If I owned this place and came in anonymously and observed what went on (not just to us but people ahead of us), a top-to-bottom review of people and policies would begin immediately.
Too many great places nearby to waste my money on this kind of operation.
- Pros: None,
- Cons: Rude inflexible staff are the first--and only--thing you see
