In Short
Owner Amy Scherber opened this, her first bakery, on Ninth Avenue in Hell's Kitchen in 1992. She's since expanded to the Chelsea Market, where most of the bread is now baked for all the stores, and then to a location on Bleecker. Most renowned for breads incorporating olives, herbs, nuts, even prosciutto, the bakery also features cakes like Red Velvet and coconut cream. Sandwiches and salads are available for take-out lunches.

This place has the best breads. I enjoyed the desserts also but the breads were over the top. The staff are fast & helpful & the prices are reasonable. I would shop here anytime I'm in the neighborhood.

Amy's Bread is reasonably priced and simply delicious. It has a variety of bread and some really sweet desserts. The service is quick and everything is freshly baked. However, they can run out of things quickly, so you can't count on them to have exactly what you want every time.
