“think they were better than Magnolia's because their cake was mosre moist and buttery versus Magnolia's dry cake.”
“wouldn't order a latte to go because it was mostly foam and hardly any coffee.”
“On my last visit a gentleman ahead of me ordered a piece of the delicious Coconut Cake ($4.25 / recommended) and I ordered a piece of the Devil's Food Cake (also $4.25 / not great).”
“The staff is always nice and accomodating.”
“The food is fresh and tasty, but waaaayyyy overpriced!”
Cheerful faces, great bread.. I have been to this store several times to pick up breads for sandwiches or for dinner. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. They even offer to slice the bread for you according to how youre going to use it. Once they even took the time to do this for my 85 cent ciabatta. Now thats nice! Plus they are not much more expensive than the grocery store, and their bread is 100 times better.
Delicious Cupcakes!!.
A bit of a hike from 5th Ave...But well worth it...YUM YUM CUPCAKE...
Small storefront bakery but everything they have looked so good.
4 Star goods 5 Star price.. Great baked goods, I'm addicted to the Cherry Cream Scones, even though I think it;s overpriced, I along with half of the westside of Manhattan keep going back ???
Just Like Heaven!!. Wow!! Recommended by the locals and worth every penny!! I wish the owner moved to Florida like the rest of the Yankees. Delicious!!
Great cupcakes. I went there to try their cupcakes and they were really good. I think they were better than Magnolia's because their cake was mosre moist and buttery versus Magnolia's dry cake. The were also of perfect size...not to big and not to small. I recommend their cupcakes anyday.
great breakfast. the first time i went to amy's i had a plum and oat quickbread, which was tasty but overpriced. i wouldn't order a latte to go because it was mostly foam and hardly any coffee. i finished it by the time i walked to the subway, which isn't a very far walk. trust me, i was shocked when i opened my cup to find it filled 3/4 of the way with foam. the real deal at amy's bread are the breakfast specials. i had the parisian. half a loaf of delicious french bread with jam and a cafe au lait. it was only $5 ($3.25 if you get a regular coffee). the sweets seemed overpriced, and i'd probably go to the patisserie one block up 9th. they looked tastier and cheaper.
Meh.... I mean...it's okay. I don't see the hype. The food is fresh and tasty, but waaaayyyy overpriced! $2.25 for a tiny cookie? And I mean TINY! I know it's good quality but come on...it's flour and sugar!
Extremely Disappointed. I was very disappointed with Amy's Bread. I purchased a loaf of bread I realized was rock hard as soon as I got in the cab. I wouldn't/couldn't have fed that bread to ducks in Central Park. I had also gotten a red velvet cupcake that was mediocore. it made me wish I had gone to Crumbs uptown. Amy needs to go back to culinary school.
Very Good Breads and Cupcakes. I finally tried the cupcakes today, the red velvet ones with white frosting. They were very good. Better than the "famous" other cupcakes in the City. The cake was just the right texture and the frosting was not too sweet, light and fresh. I have only tried the dinner rolls, they have a nice flavor. Everything looks so good; the sandwiches and the other breads too. The staff is always nice and accomodating.
Good goods but poor service. Unfortunately, although I enjoy the goods at Amy's Bread, I find the experience disquieting and unsatisfactory. The space is cramped and on most occasions the staff is unfriendly on bad days and barely attentive on good ones. On my last visit a gentleman ahead of me ordered a piece of the delicious Coconut Cake ($4.25 / recommended) and I ordered a piece of the Devil's Food Cake (also $4.25 / not great). I was served a portion 1/3 the size of the Coconut. For $4.25, I expect the portions to be equally large (or small as the case may be, but equal nonetheless). This is same kind of experience I continue to have at Amy's. But hey, the goods are better than Starbuck's, even if you can't find a place to sit down at Amy's.
