one of the places that still makes New York cool. Enjoy an intelligent chat about films, (or Hell's Kitchen history) with someone who knows you. If you're shy, they have free delivery, usually within the hour of a phone order. A great selection of art and foreign films, as well as all the blockbusters, bargain prices, AND, you rent films knowing you are supporting a one-of-a-kind. They're the best.

Great neighborhood video- delivers, too!. Video Cafe is a neighborhood oasis from the impersonal world of online video rentals. Unlike a previous reviewer, who must have arrived at Saturday night rush hour, or in a bad mood, I, and all my friends in the neighborhood, have had great experiences with Video Cafe. They are knowledgeable and helpful in finding or suggesting good videos. They know my whole family by name and preferences, and always let my son know what new superhero cartoons have come in. They have a huge and sophisticated inventory for a neighborhood video store- often carrying titles Blockbuster doesn't have, or doesn't consider commercially mainstream enough- and they stock plenty of hot new releases, so we rarely have to wait. Angel, the owner, has often ordered titles I have suggested. AND they will deliver and pickup at our door until 9 PM, usually within 1/2 hour. Try THAT with snailmail Netflix!

Unique for its neighborhood, a solid movie rental shop with a little bit of everything.. The Scene
Don't be fooled by the name--the cafe was long ago replaced by a full-service cell phone vendor inside the store, and the only vestige of the former coffeehouse is a summer-only Columbo yogurt machine. The store's a bit rundown, but that doesn't detract from its appeal or its top-notch service. What's more, it even has a Hell's Kitchen sweatshirt and cap boutique on the premises.

The Goods
Video Cafe specializes in foreign, classic and horror flicks. A reasonable DVD selection and varied choice of games for PlayStation and Xbox round out the offerings. Oh, and the store only carries one copy of "West Side Story," and it's usually checked out; there's a customer suggestion list in case you care to order additional copies of it or any other neighborhood nostalgia favorites.

They stink. Slow, lazy, and attitude is no way to run a business. If you move to the westside get ready for Netflix.
