Filled with loud drunks.....

I have been going to the Hourglass Tavern for years but I will never eat there again. I went last evening with a dear friend prior to seeing a Broadway show and there was only seating at the upstairs bar (no problem there). We sat down and there was a VERY LOUD and drunk group of 3 ( 2 girls and one guy) kids there. We asked them very kindly if they could lower their voices. This only stirred their intoxicated brains and they began to bang on the tables and became even more boisterous. The staff there was simply clueless. Other patrons were also very agitated with their behavior. Before anyone got hurt (and it wasn't going to be me) we decided to leave. As we were leaving they once again started banging on the tables like neanderthals. As we walked out we came across more kids who too were drunk (6pm), it was a pathetic site. Restaurant Row has indeed gone down-hill. I cannot eat in an establishment that cannot control or do something about drunkard patrons.

Wonderful

What a quaint place! Everyone was very friendly. Wine choices were numerous. Host and wait staff were good. had a time limit and they met it. Saw advertised in playbill. Food was plentiful.

Great Service and good food

Went before a show and told the waiter we were in a hurry. Food was served and we were out of there in an hour. Nice place and friendly. Food good.

Great place for food and ambiance

The resturaunt has two new owners. They have updated the surrondings to a comforable place for dinner. The food is good and the friendliness of owners and staff makes you want to come back again. A new bar is being built that will allow for relaxation before or after dinner or a play. I would give five stars for food, service and ambience.

Not charmed at all.

Two words: tourist trap. The owner pressured our party to come inside after reading the menu. We were seated on the top floor, which resembled eating in somebody's apartment. We were not charmed by the decor, atmosphere, service, or food. Only drunkenness could explain the ineptitude of our waitress: our table was not properly prepared, another patron had to alert her that we were ready to order (after waiting 20 minutes), she dropped utensils, food, and spilled water, and she thought she could compensate for her horrid performance by offering us free dessert! Besides that the food was bland, no tastier than a Jersey diner on Route 1&9. If you want to waste your money and time, dine here.
