Wonderful Saturday Night Birthday Celebration Dinner. This was my fourth visit, thought have not been in some years. It was a night made memorable by excellent service, starting with maitre' d, who seated us even though rest of party not yet arrived and no seat at the bar. Waitress, Ariel, could not have been more professional or delightful. She was careful not to interrupt our table conversation, yet made sure that all needs were met. She appeared to genuinely enjoy her job and shared with us her future plans, even doing a little dance table side and demonstrating great ability. We all found our choices very, very satisfying: onion soup, beef bourgeone, salmon and steak tartare. It takes a special restaurant to have the courage to serve this dish and it was beautifully done. We all high recommed it. The only con: very crowded pre theatre, not surprisingly, empties out nicely when theatre crowd leaves and no one hurries you out.

AN OLD FAV, BUT PLEASE REPAINT SKY ON CEILING!. CAFE UN DEUX TROIS IS AN OLD FAM FAV OF MINE, BEEN DINING THERE FOR YEARS. LOVE THE MAITRADEE. HE REMEMBERS US EVEN THOUGH WE DO NOT LIVE IN NY. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. WONDERFUL OPEN RESTAURANT. LOVELY SPACE. IT IS TOO BAD THEY RECENTLY PAINTED OVER THE LOVEY SKY-PAINTED CEILING!!! PLEASE BRING THAT BACK! POOR DESIGN CHOICE, WHOEVER MADE IT.

FOOD IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS, AND THEY WILL EVEN MAKE YOU SOMETHING SPECIAL YOU REQUEST IF IT IS NOT ON THE MENU. THE HOUSE RED (THEIR OWN LABEL) IS PLEASANT TOO!

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO HOP OVER TO FOR A ROMANTIC MEAL AFTER A LATE SHOW. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE SKY CEILING!

Make you feel right at home. Wait an excellent way to enjoy a meal pre-theater.

We were seated immediately, and the host was so nice, pulling out our chairs and everything.

The entire staff was working very hard, we saw bus boys and servers in constant motion keeping things moving. My mother chose the Canard a l'Orange, and I had the theater menu Prixe Fixe. The salad was great, it had a vinagrette, that was not too bitter and complimented the greens nicely. My mother had the Onion soup au gratin, it was very good as well.

The waiter was so attentive, and he really seemed to be enjoying what he was doing. My mother's duck was very good, and beautifully presented, a huge portion that she couldn't even finish. I had the Roast lamb au jus with mashed potatoes, which was very good, the sauce was just perfect for the perfectly prepared lamb.

For dessert my mother had the lemon sorbet, which was great, not too sweet, just a really perfect finish to the meal. I had the huge portion of the creme brulee. It was so good, and really a great way to end this great dining experience.

We can't wait to go back, this is probably the best dining experience that we have had in the city.

Also there were quite a lot of kids there, and people wer dressed in jeans as well as suits and cocktail dresses, anybody could feel comfortable here, and the staff makes sure of it.

lackluster toward poor. Saturday pre theater, 4 of at the table. One cold meal, one rare steak when well done was requested (had to send back and when it returned it was cold and still rare). One person had to ask for silverware. We all had to ask for steak knives. Plates from appetizers never cleared when entree was served we had to clear our own. Awkward awkward awkward and cold. Plus side: steak with peppercorn sauce was very good . . . . but still cold. They need to be at the top of their game at this location and prices.

Sunday brunch. Cafe 123 has the BEST french toast in the world! Also, the fruit that comes with it is spectacular and its none of that reject fruit like melon, either.

As close to La Coupole as you'll get in NYC.. I have this love-hate thing with Cafe 123. Love the authentic brasserie ambience brasserie, but hate that the food is mediocre. Pre-theater dinner last night. Service was pleasant and quick. Drinks came fast (but I was surprised that they 86'd Chivas). The server got all our substitutions exactly right, which was great. Companions risked the steak tartare appetizer and loved it. I had soft-shell crabs; one was not as fresh as it should have been. Plate looked great, but was lukewarm. Large Portions. Sauteed spinach was made with chopped garlic from a jar--really bugged me--inexcuseable. Companion had the roast chicken--way over-cooked. Of course we had no time to send it back. Meal ended on a great note with large portion of excellent vanilla ice cream. I would go back. I would recommend it to others, with a warning not to have high expectations with respect to the food.

Average. Nothing too great , but it was a nice meal. Surprisingly though we were the only two patrons in this huge restaurant.

It was just ok.... I went there one Monday night for dinner with a friend and the restaurant is huge, but it was empty and dark that night. My friend had the salmon with bearnaise sauce and enjoyed it. I stuck with lighter fare, having the gravlax and endive salad. Neither of which I would recommend. The gravlax was extremely salty so I had to eat the entire breadbasket to make it palatable. The endive salad was all endive with very little apples, walnuts and blue cheese. The saving graces were the service and dessert :) I had the blueberry tart with coffee which was perfect.

Old-World Class. I've dined here thrice and visited the bar on many occasions after performances on Broadway. The food was quite good on every visit. The table service is definitely lacking, however, all is more than made up for by Jose, the manager in residence. By the third visit, he and the staff greeted me warmly by name and with handshakes at every arrival. He always made room for me and my guests (even when crowded) and took the time to introduce himself to them and make sure we were well taken care of, even including the ocassional complimentary cocktail. HE is the reason to come to 123. He adds class and charm and an old-world elegance and attention to detail that is next-to-imposiible to find outside of MUCH more expensive and snooty establishments. Bravo Jose!

A NYC Institution. I love Cafe Un Deux Trois. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I worked there for a few years long ago, but I still never tire of going back to see familiar faces, and I still crave the following things: steak au poivre, gravlax, the leg of lamb with beans, the mustard sauce they use on the chicken at lunch, chicken kiev, the pot roast (but they hardly ever have it), cassoulet and the tarte tatin a la mode. The atmosphere is wonderful and you never know which "star" you'll see in the evenings. Broadway actors flock to this place.
