Good Burger.
Had a great burger and beer for $10 lunch time special. Chatted with the lovely bartender - Rose.
Comfortable atmosphere, with tons of TVs. Caught up on CNN and sports....win - win!!
great place to party. We came in from out of town for a 4 night stay and we came to Playwright Celtic Pub every single night! We had tickets to a broadway show and stumbled into celtic pub for something to eat before the show. The staff were attentive and the food and drink came quick and fast.We returned after the show for drinks and ended up staying till 4AM.The music great and so were bartenders .We felt like locals after the first night. It was nice to have a place"where everybody knows your name" as cheesy as it sounds when you are in a different city.We love the playwright! Celtic Pub!!
PLACE TO PARTY. As a Manhattanite, I'm more privvy to your typical over crowded, over priced Meatpacking District bars/lounges. We were looking for something close to the Port Authority that had people in it. We had a couple of apps. but an extreme amount of cocktails (so many my friend missed the last bus to NJ) We had such a great time - THANKY YOU bartenders (who dance to every song) and waitstaff (whom were attentive to our need to drink as much as possible) ~ I will definitely be coming back.
Great place for pre-theater meals. This place is a great Irish pub in the theater district. We called ahead and got a table for seven for a 6:30 dinner. When we got in we told them we had tickets for an 8:00 show. the table was big and comfy. Our drinks arrived four minutes after we sat down. We each placed a second drink order when we ordered dinner and they arrived fast. Dinner was great. Most of the table had burders and sandwiches. I had Shepard's Pie and my friend had a steak, both were very good. the steak was cooked perfectly for medium rare. After dinner we had coffee and got out in plenty of time to make our show. The service was great. the palce was packed with an after work crowd, but our beautiful irish waitress was a pleasure. she worked hard, came by at least four times to check on us and seemed to be genuinely concerned that we made our show and she told us what tiem it was three times. We gave her a very nice tip. I would go back here anytime.
worst food worst service. The server Sabrina T altered my credit card recipt after i had left her a 20% cash tip i called the place to get it fixed and they said to call back on tuesday because they were too busy to handle it. NEVER EVER GO THERE, the food is awful and the drinks are too.
After 33 years in New York THIS IS THE WORST. I don't know where Playwright Act I is but how they got to Act II is a mystery. I have never had worse service anywhere in NYC or any other city. I was there with my son and his girlfriend before attending a play. I ordered a drink and when it arrived the waitress just set it on the table at the opposite end from where I was sitting. Worst martini in NYC. Things just got worse. The wrong orders arrived and when the right ones did they were terrible. I mean really bad food. When it came time to get the bill the waitress (server) disappeared and it took 20 minutes to finally pay up. STAY AWAY!!!
