great decor, old italian feeling. good food too!. im not always the biggest fan of italian food, but this place made me change my mind for sure... better manicot than tuscany itself!!!

Delectable swordfish, Stellar service.
Even though Becco is known for their amazing pasta prix fixe, we decided to eat a little lighter post-theatre.
First off, the service was phenomenal. Leighton made sure that we were taken care of at every turn. Our bartender also took very good care of us. The initial pour of my Manhattan was about 2 millimeters short (honestly, no big deal), and although it was fine, about a minute after the Manhattan was poured the bartender was out from behind the bar, muttering "not on my watch" as he topped off the Manhattan. It was a wonderful show of top-notch service.
We started off with one of the specials, Smoked mozzarella burrata with broccoli rabe on Tuscan bread. It was delicious - and after having a piece of Tuscan bread all by itself, I could see why it was the foundation of the starter. Wonderful, chewy and crisped on the outside...yum!
Next we enjoyed the pomegranate salad (it was one of those nights where ALL the specials sounded good, so that's what we went with) and while it was lovely, it didn't really overly excite the mouth.
For our entree we chose the grilled swordfish in a tomato-ey sauce that was fantastic. We actually split everything and the swordfish came out on two plates - the portion was large enough to fill both of us and we were glad that we'd split it. Great texture on the grilled fish, it was up there with the best swordfish I've had recently.

Dont take me there.. I use to be a big fan of Lidias. Not anymore. Her employees (the waiters) are aggresive, condensending, pushy and rude. The food is just like another review I read, very Olive Garden like. I met Lidia there she is not friendly warm and welcoming like she is on her show so dont be hurt if she wont give you the time of day when you are there. I would go here as a last choice. The food is ok. I am suprised to see so many positive reviews everyone in the crammed like setting was complaining.

Great Pre and post theatre place.
Very consistent food and service.
They are at their best for groups of 4 and more!
Location on restaurant row is perfect - near all theatres and mass transit.
Highly recommend!

Overpriced Olive Garden.
My wife came up with the headline, but I agree with it wholeheartedly. The positive reviews on here are astounding as I don't think I've been to a worse Italian restaurant. My wife and I were in on Saturday night and were looking forward to it as we are fans of Lidia's Italy. The gracious hospitality on the show could not be more different from the service we had. Our dinner was post theatre rush (9:15 reservation) and yet they still were trying to churn the table.
The caesar salad that comes with dinner was spooned out on top of the bread/olive plate, and our dinner came out very quickly thereafter. My wife had the swordfish and I ordered the braised spare ribs, which was a special, and both dishes and their sides were awful.
Worst of all, a waiter actually made two women seated at the next table get up and move over to another table in order to fit a large table into the area. They did this without any apology.
The only good thing about this place is that you won't be there! If I could give no stars I would.

Worst Restaurant in NYC. When you arrive at Becco you're greeted by a sour puss at the door who asks "reaservations" in a nasty tone. When you get through the door she pushes you in your back with the door. Then you get to the so-called manager who does not seem to care how poorly you were just treated. The wait staff is just as rude. Once you get your bill you can't believe you paid for such an awful experience. There are many great restaurants in NYC who cater to the theatre crowd, skip this one.
