“We love the food and the ambience.”
“The homemade desserts are great too.”
“Impeccable service, great food and a nice wine collection all wraped up in a beautiful interior.”
“To our surprise, Dopo Teatro was good especially their pastas and pizza.”
“We prefer the French wines, of which they do not have such great variety.”
“We had a very nice waiter, attentive, despite the fact the restaurant was busy.”
“The restaurant was very crowded, but I guess you can not have it all; it was Sat evening before the theater, but we liked the food so much we are going to come back just for dinner on a calmer night.”
“Great Food, Great atmosphere, friendly wait-staff”
“Well worth the trip if you need a nice romantic night out without the kids it is perfect and not too expensive unless you want big time wine which is there if want it.”
“unfortunately had a very unhappy and pour experience from the first minute we walk in were the hostes was not friendly at all, the server came after good 10 minutes saying ( we are not open yet you need to wait ),and let's don't talk about the food and ”
Excellent Italian Restaurant. Excellent food! The staff were so nice and friendly. I accidentally spilled my water and they graciously moved the 4 of us to another table. The ambience was delightful! It was crowded but we still got wonderful service! We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it!
Quite and very nice place !. Me and my friend were at Dopo last night ,it was my 2nd time there! Was very quite night ,not busy, that why I guess service was very fast ,we had small dinner at the bar and nice company with a beautiful bartender ...Everyone seemed very friendly and nice to us ...food was pretty good and wine was ok ! Im planning to take my wife there for a nice dinner next week !
bad staff.. Believe it or not i had the same experience...we were at this small party in the theatre room, and this little young guy almost couldn t get the order, he was drunk!!!!We were shocked..,we wanted to talk to the manager about it but we just left..!!!!never again it was embarrassing..
Rudeness, really unprofessional people!!. I went there a couple of times before with people that i work with and the food was fine...the only thing unfortunately! At first we stopped at the bar where we had a glass of wine, (i was there with my wife that night was a saturday) the bartender didn t even talk to us,very serious and she was too busy checking her phone and watch herself at the mirror..we asked for a raccomandation about the food and she didn t have any idea about it...are you serious??We just paid and had the dinner at the table.Good food, but very slow service and was obvious that the waiter couldn t wait to go home..anyway we ate and left. The worst thing was the other night when i don t know why we decided to try again after the last exsperience that we had...there were 2 gay guys close to our table having a dinner togheter...the waiter who was there (little chubby with strong east european accent) couldn t stop to make bad comments about them with other waiters there, bad words, and laughing behind their back...this is shameless and unbelievable.Very unprofessional and rude.So we are done with this place and according to other friends who also went there they said their waiter was drunk that night...what kind of place is that?Shame.
Great Before Threater Restaurant. I hesitated going to this restaurant last night because of several negative reviews online. I had been there 2 years ago and like it so I went again. I was not disappointed! The wine list was 50% off and the pre-theater dinner was $25. My friend and I had the red snapper and my husband had the chicken. We all enjoyed it and didn't leave a crumb on our plates. We sat downstairs and it was quiet, the wait staff was extremely attentive, and we felt like it was a feast. For the price, this is hard to beat. I will go again. LN
Seriously...18% mandatory tip for rudeness?!?!.
Went to NYC last week for leisure (2 couples).
Went there after reading some good reviews at Citysearch and Google Maps.
Couldn't be more disappointed!
Even though the food quality was good and the ingredients were all fresh, the portion sizes were extremely small and the service was awful!
Our waiter was rude and he was ignoring us all night and the only thing he cared about was if we'd like to have an extra $10 dessert or a $100 wine...
When we received the check there was an 18% gratuity included and space for extra tip!!!!
We did not complain thinking that this should be written in the menu somewhere but when we looked at it there was no such footnote!
There are many great Italian restaurants in NYC and this is definitely NOT one of them !
Never to Return. Rarely have my wife and I been so disappointed in a restaurant. My wife ordered saltinbocca which arrived at the table in less than ten minutes - clearly not cooked to order. Her broccoli was cold (as in unheated). My pasta dish was stuck together, dry and the meat that came with it was pot roast style without a barolo flavor as stated. The wine list was ridiculously expensive - over 80% of the wines were $100 bottle and up and the 'inexpensive' house wines averaged $11 a glass. The experience was that of a money hungry meat grinder.
Overrated and Disappointing. There was nothing special about this restaurant experience--in fact, it was downright bad and very disappointing for a Saturday night! The service was very slow (yet we ate at 5:30 when there was no crowd), and our food was lukewarm when brought to the table (as if we had been overlooked and it was sitting for a while before being delivered). The lobster raviolis were two dry half moons of pasta glued together with barely any filling, and I had to ask for more sauce. The other pasta dishes were no better than anything you could make at home, and a beef short ribs dish was also dry and needed more sauce. We couldn't get out of there fast enough, with no desire for coffee and dessert. Go down the street to John's or Carmine's when in the theater district--this place is overpriced and a waste of time and money!!
Busy place, but great food!!!!. My wife and I went there to celebrate her birthday and we needed to get out fast to catch a musical. Our experience was great! They were timely, courteous and the food was delicious. So there you go...if you are in the NYC area, this is a good place to eat, relax and get around the city. The Cruz's
