Management needs to train staff. I really hate to give this place a bad review because it has so many good ones but--------- I went there on a Wednesday night at around 9:30. There were maybe 10 people in the bar at most. My husband and I sat down at a table next to the bar and listened to the piano player who was very good. We sat there for about 5 minutes waiting for a waitress. My husband got up, walked the 2 steps to the bar and ordered our drinks from the bartender who didn't seem to notice us 3 feet away from her. The waitress finally shows up and asks us what we want. The bartender says " I got it" and the waitress apologizes to the bartender!! Not us for ignoring us but to the bartender. HUH???? So we drink our drinks and enjoy the piano player (the only bright spot in this place). As I said we were sitting right next to the bar. I happen to notice that the 2 bartenders, the waitress and a patron (who works there on a different night) were so deep into conversation that they completely ignored the customers. When it came time for another round of drinks, my husband had to get up again and order our drinks. What is up with the staff here? We were there about an hour and not once did the waitress ask us if we needed anything. When it came time for the bill, AGAIN my husband had to get up and ask for the bill. The waitress brings over the bill, still talking away with the bartenders, not even acknowledging that there is anyone at the table. We were not the only ones being ignored. These people didn't move from the corner of the bar the whole time we were there, unless a customer called them. I can't believe the owners would condone this type of behavior from its employees. We left the waitress a $2 tip on a $40 bill and walked out.
Excellent food and great ambiance. This is a "must do" for foodies when in NYC. The menu here is a magical flavor combustion. The service was a bit disappointing but the great food and presentation made up for that.... We can't wait to go back!
Why wouldn't you want to tell mama about this???. my husband and I ate here for our 1year wedding anniversay very comfortable and warm atmosphere, the service was very attentive, and the food was excellent seasoned to perfection and made by the freshest ingredients. I strongly recommend this hot spot for any special occasion~ this place is one of the best!!!
stand up comedy is fun here. it was fun for me to sing and perform here. drinks were good especially the dirty martini's (strong) i tore the house down and got everyone singing and dancing with me. a great place to go clubbing and see spectacular jazz music and composers who impersonate mozart and beethoven
See George! The Man in Cheese!. We've been going to DTM for years and I highly recommend it! It's a completely unique experience--especially if you are from out of town. Head straight for the Piano Bar. (They also have "Cabaret" rooms with various shows. Sometimes fab, sometimes not. Get the word first.) In the Piano Bar, you will find some of the best entertainers in the world---and they're also the drink servers! Sing-alongs, comedy, and a real party atmosphere. Be sure and go EARLY (9:30) on the week-end when George Sanders is there. He's an incredible talent----singing and comedy. Ask to see his Sneaky Snake or Swiss Cheese. A must!
A place for great fun and entertainment. Get there early... it is tough to get into. It is small and not for a large group if you want to sit together. But everytime we have gone, we have come out smiling.
Award-winning comics and cabaret/piano-bar entertainers populate this triplex in the heart of Restaurant Row..
The Scene
Despite its name, there's not much here to scandalize Mom--except, perhaps, the cross-dressing divas who are dead ringers for Carol Channing and Judy Garland. The bustling piano bar in front leads to a pair of cabaret rooms featuring up to three performances nightly. The piano bar's daily happy hour attracts a cheeky crowd of after-work regulars who are equally knowledgeable about mixed drinks and the Broadway songbook. After that, a nightly rotating schedule of piano bar entertainers keep the craft alive.
The Draw
The front and back showrooms are classic cabaret settings: intimate round tables, mirrored walls and a stage where the talent is nearly in your lap. Both spaces host traditional singer-with-accompanist acts, musical revues and improv, including "Poole Party!"--Ron Poole's award-winning comedy show that just may replace "Cats" for sheer now-and-forever longevity.
What a great show!. The Poole Party! is the best comedy show in NYC! There is stand-up, musical comedy, and great interaction with the crowd. A great value! The performers are different each week, but all are good... Especially Wes Moon.
SOOOO MUCH FUN. I have been going to DTM for years. It's a GREAT place to bring out-of-towners. The line IS very long but there's obviously a reason for that. It's best to get there between 9:30-10:00 pm on weekends so you get a seat, have a cocktail and chat with friends until the entertainment starts. GREAT VOICES! Anne Steele is AMAZING. The service is fine and the prices are not over the top. GREAT fun!!
Easy to get into, easy to get out..
