“The central location was perfect as a starting point around the city.”
“Nice staff, great location”
“It was a good deal before now prices are great !”
Beware from Portland Square Hotel.
Keep away from the Portland Square Hotel!!!
My parents booked there (through their own website) the queen superior room and got a filthy room with no (!!!) windows, really tiny and gross, at the back of the hotel, looked as if it was the employees' room!!! And they paid $230 per night using a promotion, 15-18 October 2008 ?
The hotel disregarded that in the reservation form they specifically mentioned that they are on anniversary trip and requested a nice room, and that I called two times prior to their arrival to make sure that they are getting a nice room. We were aware of the bad reviews but we thought it was in different situation each time?.I guess we wanted to believe?the web site pictures looked so nice?BTW ? the hotel rep. had the nerves to claim that that filthy room is the "queen superior room"??.
My parents wanted to switch to a different hotel but they couldn't find one in a decent price on a short notice? My mother was so upset; it had ruined her whole trip (they traveled through the U.S for a month)!!!
Beware from Portland Square Hotel
Nice staff, great location. We stayed at the Portland Square recently and found it to be a very good choice. The central location was perfect as a starting point around the city. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was very accomodating. We'd definitely go back
No longer inexpensive.
In regards to their expensiveness or inexpensiveness, I just called them and the lady said they've been "upgraded" recently and that they "haven't really had any low rates for a while".
They used to have nice low rates a few years ago, though. $100 easy. But not anymore.
Having said all that... Good location, good service, well kept.
Inexpensive?. How's this hotel "inexpensive"? I just called to make a reservation, and it's $279+tax per night EARLY NOVEMBER! If that's "inexpensive", then I'm a giraffe!
Editorial Review. Times Square budget hotel features satellite TV, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and daily maid service. Some rooms have shared bathrooms
What a Deal. The perfect location in a no frills, small, but spotlessly clean little hotel. 1/2 block from Times Square and 1/2 block from the subway. Wouldnt even consider any other hotel!!!
portland square, time square, one and th. the portland square hotel is in time square, a great location. the price was incredible and the room was great. could not have asked for more...
GREAT FIND!!!!!. For an amazing price you get a clean, comfortable room in the heart of NYC. I couldn't have done any better. I chose a shared bath and the only draw back was my laziness to actually go out of my room. i never had a problem with compition. I was a single in a double and yes it was small but very comfortable. The bed was nice and firm/comfortable. I stayed from a Saturday night to Friday morning in November. I can do nothing but rave about the place. I felt very very safe in the hotel and in the surrounding area of the hotel. WHAT A FIND!!!!
BEST CHEAP HOTEL IN NYC. PORTLAND SQUARE IS A JEWEL OF A HOTEL. THE LOCATION IS WONDERFUL AS IS THE STAFF. SMALL ROOMS BUT VERY CLEAN. WON'T STAY ANY WHERE ELSE IN NYC.
Location Location Location!. The Portland Square Hotel's location is fantastic! I never have to go far to see my favorite Broadway shows, not to mention the half-price tickets! The value is unbelievable. This hotel is well maintained, clean and the service is great! I wouldnt take my family anywhere else.
