Editorial Review for Paramount Hotel – by Gayot.com
The Scene
In 1990 hotel guru Ian Schrager teamed up with French designer Philippe Starck to transform the former Century Paramount into a cutting-edge "cheap chic" hotel. Cool, modern style prevails in the lobby with its oversized mahogany sofas with attached desks and such Starck-designed pieces as the gilded-wood chair upholstered with a larger-than-life silkscreen of a growling dog. The lobby provides contrast to the sedate, mahogany-paneled Library Bar with its more traditional, zinc-topped bar.
The Details
You wouldn't expect anything less than cutting-edge multimedia on display here. Downstairs, flat-screen monitors play videos commissioned from a group of international artists. Vermeer images have been added to the famous headboards, and desks have Italian marble tops. The stark white bathrooms are accented with cone-shaped stainless-steel sinks. Portable computers, mobile phones and faxes are available on request. On-site treats include Dean & DeLuca. The gym is open 24 hours.

We stayed in this hotel in marc 2008, the room they gave us was tiny, was impossible to open the suitcases inside the room, that was bare patch, and the bathroom are so, so old, almost twenty years without improvements, they don't have windows...Also we've been in public restrooms cleaner than our room... At the recepcion told us they will be chargin 50$ per day for any damage we could make.... and fridge of the room was closed and out of order.. The gereral impresion of the hotel is so dark, and they have music at hihg volume, maybe they suppose that make them more cool... We were stolen inside the room(1300$), and they tried to avoid to call the police, I had to call them from my room (911), when the police came, the manager tried to avoid take responsibility for security of the room, of caouse, they charge us every call (1,25$ each), even to the police... Leaving the hotel they charge us 2$ per suitcase, just to take care of them for a few hours... I truly recommend you not to go to this hotel, you are warned....
Pros: its a joke?
Cons: rooms, service, prices, guest service, dirty.....

We live in Miami, FL. We have been in NY 3 times now and always stayed at the Paramount. We have received an outstanding service, the staff is really nice and helpful, and to be honest our room, which was a superior queen, was not small, it was a normal size, remember that for the most part hotel rooms in New York are not huge, We are very pleased and would recommend this hotel to anyone!!! We love it!!!
Pros: Awesome Location - Nice & Helpful Staff - Cute Rooms
Cons: None - Everything was perfect!!!
