Life long visitor. I've been coming here since I was a kid. As a younger boy we'd come here during Easter sunday. As a teenager when I came of age this was the place I used to come to meet girls. We would go "fishing" here. It's pretty funny when I think back on it.

Now years later as an adult, I still return from time to time. This location played host to my post wedding luncheon with the family. For fun we even made one of those glass laser images together. My wife, my son and I did one together, then my wife and I did one by ourselves.

I have come to this location in search of games, clothing, food and sometimes just to enjoy the cool breeze and a relaxing view. It's a nice place to have and throughout my life I have enjoyed many visits.

It can get very crowded in the summer as people (locals and tourist alike) come to see the outside performers, and the sort. You will see all the Navy boy's and Marines here during fleet week. And if you like you can also catch boat tours here. Heaven knows what else is available, I have never really looked as I live here, and living here means I don't do stuff like that. Heheh.

The seaport is a nice place to hang out, it's like a glorified mall by the water with boats.

Worth a quick look if you’re nearby and don’t expect too muc. It’s not worth a trip from Midtown, but if you’re already Downtown to see Wall Street or the World Trade Center, walk the extra blocks and enjoy what you see: some cool old ships, a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge and a well preserved chunk of old New York. Ignore the small museum unless you’re really interested in shipping and ignore all the shops. They’re exactly the same shops you’ll find in any American mall.

A gorgeous waterfront with fabulous retail shopping.. Overview
A historic trading port that dates back to the 1600s, the "Street of Ships" is now home to more than 120 shops, restaurants, eateries and pushcarts filled with the gifts, tastes and styles of New York City. Quaint cobblestone streets and scenic views of the Brooklyn Bridge offer a welcome and peaceful respite from the grime of urban living. Best of all--it's free.

Features
Since its restoration in the late '60s, the South Street Seaport has gone through a period of intense growth. The last few decades of the 20th century saw the openings of the South Street Seaport Museum, the Pier 17 Pavilion, the Fulton Market and numerous high-end shops. But if you don't want to go shopping or pay a fee at the museum, it doesn't cost anything to go and just hang out with friends and family--there's always street performances or live music going on.

Good place to cozy up with your man. The lounge chairs on the deck is a relaxing place for you to read the paper, fall asleep. Sometimes it is very crowded, you might only be able to get only one chair. It is a good excuse to sit on the lap of your honey. It overlooks the water. It is actually quite beautiful, (if you don't mind the occasional piece of garbage floating in the Hudson River). No but seriously, it is reaaaaally a nice view on a nice summer or spring day.

South Street Seaport. Lots of shops...like a big mall. I like the cobblestone area across the street the best. Crowded. Very commercialized. Good place to find lots of stores, but a long walk from the subway - only good if you want to spend a few hours there, not quick shopping trips.

magnificent views. Sitting on the waterside, sipping a cocktail & watching the boats pass by, or the Brooklyn Bridge rossing the Hudson or the Verazano in the distanace. Lovely sunsets that you can almost touch. A very romantic spot.
