Editorial Review for Jeremy's Ale House – by Paul J. Pelkonen

In Short
Nearly tucked under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan side, Jeremy's caters to all sorts--Wall Street workers, cops, firemen and the post-college crowd. The food is good and cheap, as are the retro jukebox and the 32-oz. beers, served in environmentally unfriendly Styrofoam.

Insider Tips

Food Served

Munch on red-hot buffalo wings, calamari (available in two styles) or the tasty, artery-clogging fried shrimp.

Jeremy's is at the apex of NYC dive bars. They have wide selection of popular beers, it's dirt cheap (compared to regular nyc bars) and it comes in a styro foam cup. The food is mediocre at best, but after 2-3 quart sized beers you don't really care. I usually go there for the sunday football games. They feature a projector and tv's every where. There are bras hanging from the ceiling and the bathrooms are rather horrid, espcially after a few of those quarts. But if you don't have to eat or p, the place is where it's at if you want to: get blitzed, don't mind a dive and happen to be in the sea port area.

Pros: Quart sized cups

Cons: Quart sized cups

I am laughing when reading the other reviews like "no hot chics" "needs more women". How funny. Why would any woman, hot or not, want to go here? I stopped in w/ my husband to watch Yankees playoff game on a Saturday afternoon. Where were the MEN? I did not see any cops, firemen, construction workers, or college guys, just a bunch of drunks! This place is a loading dock, no lie, with some poor quality tv screens. Beer selection is excellent, and wings and other snacks are cheap and good. Bras hanging on the ceiling is the only decoration here. If you are a college kid or just want to drink beer in cups, then this is the place for you. It was funny. Won't be going back anytime soon, but I can see its appeal to many people.

Pros: VERY cheap and decent snacks, and great beer selection

Cons: Gross interior, lots of slobs
