Quick and friendly, just the way it should be.
This place produces a true NYC manicure experience - no frills, quick, and cheap. There is often a wait and like most nail salons, the staff severely underquote you on time.
The mani/pedis are standard, they generally do a great job and it lasts quite a while. Annie is a great owner and also in a frenetic state most of the time the shop is open. I'd call Ann's Nails a very reliable, good neighborhood spot. Hard to come by these things when you live in the FiDi. The perk: since all of the Wall Street workers peace out, the deal is cheap on the weekends! I see it says $23 here but actually, I think they are at $21 for a weekend mani/pedi these days. Excellente!
Very sloppy haphazard work. This place is only good if your really broke and desperate and in a hurry. They are terrible at shaping and polishing, they paint outside the lines and they are the worst in the world at french manicure. The lines are totally sloppy and sqiggled and there are air bubbles everywhere from using cheap old polish and shabby driere. They don't even have UV driers, just air, so of course they chip and smudge immediately.
Great manicure - friendly staff. I'm a guy who works in the area and sometimes need a quick manicure that's not too expensive. the staff is always polite & friendly, and Ann is great. i have bought gift cert's for a few women for man/ped's and they said it is a great place and will be back. every time I go it's crowded so they must be doing something right!
Avoid PERIOD. The first time that I went was fine and my nails looked great after. I had acrylic tips, and they lasted about 2 and a half weeks until I needed to get a fill. However, when I got the fill, it looked awful and the paint chipped almost immediately. After a week or so, I noticed dark marks under my nails. Then, the acrylic on my nail fell off to reveal green spots on my nails from the glue that they used. I went back one more time, and had a full set put on. However, ONE DAY after I had this done, 2 nails FELL OFF! I didnt do anything to cause this. I would never go back here, and even though the prices are slightly lower than the competitors, it is worth the extra money to get something decent!
Up a flight of stairs, a workday spot for a quick nail pick-me-up..
At this bare-bones Financial District salon, manicures, pedicures, back rubs and waxing services certainly won't break the bank. With just a row of no-frills nail stations and individual drying fans comprising most of the space, no one's here for the atmosphere--they're here for the relatively inexpensive manicures. There's also a single massage chair for cheap back rubs, and pedicures are done in a few comfy leather stations.
