Lousy Service – Average looking salon, but add on that they can be rude and unfriendly - you'll probably be better off going around the corner to another salon. Oh, and don't go in pregnant, you might get ridiculed too.
Small place great service – After searching and calling almost twenty salons in NYC and finding out how pricey these places are, i found this place. It's easy to get to, small and average looking. It was no pretenious in any way and I was greeted warmly. I got a haircut, color and highlights, turning my shoulder length grown-out bob to a trendy cropped cut. AVI cut and colored it spending more than 3 hours with me, 1/2 hr picking out a color and giving suggestions. He made great suggestions and I plan on returning in a week for a trim. He made great convorsation and was so nice and warm. While i was there one woman complained about the price, although I paid $160 for cut, color and about 25 hi-lights. AVI is great, and all the other woman there got good cuts too. He was more of an artist than a hair stylist.
Great! – I've been going here for a couple of years now & love it! While I average about $200 per visit - that includes the works - color, highlights, cut, style, & even eyebrow threading. So I'm ok with the cost. Everyone is friendly & I always feel great when I leave. I go every 5-6 weeks & there's always a big mix of people, ages, etc. They also have a lot of products there & I've gotten some great deals. They don't push product on you either, which is huge for me. I like having good hair, they help keep it that way (Thanks Nelya!). I sometimes wish they were open on weekends, but I always manage a late afternoon appointment & it works out fine.
User review by thelethalkitten – Also a student from the area. Had a cut/color there about two years ago, paid nearly 200 (though my hair wasn't more than shoulder length at the time). Liked how it looked, but stylist didn't warn me that the color would look awful once it started growing out...overall, feel like I spent a lot of money to get a look that was too pricey to maintain anyway. Got suckered into spending more than I bargained for. Staff is knowledgable, but make sure they'll give you what you came in for.
My Spot – I have been going to Danielle Helaine for two years and loved it! I attended Pace University and found this great salon five minutes away. It's affordable, even for college students. My favorite stylist (Yvone) is wonderful! I can't ask for a better find!
Best of Downtown – I stumbled upon this salon while walking around, I went in and even though it was a bustling lunch hour, I was taken care of immediately. Most importantly. I was not rushed through a la Jean Louis David. I had a great hairstylist (Albert), who listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions, gave me a FABULOUS cut and even showed me pointers on how to style it every day. All of this for $35 and I have long hair! I will gladly go back again & again. What a find!
