“".The food used to be much better, but it is -by far- the best in the area, the service is excelent, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, as for "ambience", the place seems trapped on the late 80's.”
“don't know if it was because they were not so busy that night, but the service was fantastic, our waitress gave us good sugestions on the wine, food and dessert.”
“Finally a decent pour of wine by the glass and decent wine, not plonk, at a real good price.”
“The food is inedible, service is terrible and the decor is so cheesy and awful.”
“The waiter was very attentive and good with his personal recommendations on the menu(.”
“It's a great place on the Upper East Side that you can visit with out having to go south of 86th Street.”
“The meal was inedible and frankly, there's too much competition in the hood to ever go back.”

“The food is not even that cheap and nothing should be this bad.”
Disgusting.
I called this place for a delivery and got one of the worst pizzas I have ever had in New York.
I called them on a Thursday night and ordered a small pizza and some garlic bread. I asked the price and was told it would be $21. After 45 minutes I called back to find out where the delivery was and was told it would arrive in another 10 minutes. 15 minutes later the delivery man showed up with a bill for $26. After looking at the pizza it would seem they gave me a large rather than the small I had ordered.
The pizza itself was undercooked and soggy, like someone didn't leave it in the oven long enough. The mushrooms and olives were from a can and felt mushy. The garlic bread was terrible, a small baguette loaf sliced up, each piece spread with a tiny amount of butter and sprinkled with some garlic salt. What's more, the bread was hard and stale, like it had been sitting out all day! It was as if I ordered garlic bread and they gave me unflavored croutons.
You might as well go to the grocery store and buy some tasteless frozen pizza and day-old bread rather than wait for someone to serve up this garbage.
Chef Boyardee. This is one of the worst meal I've ever had. My pasta was thick and gummy, the sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee and the grated parm had a metallic freezer taste like it was old and over refridgerated. The meal was inedible and frankly, there's too much competition in the hood to ever go back.
A real upper east side deal. Great to have this place open again! Have gone several times for dinner, and even better for lunch. One of the best deals in NYC for prix fixe 10.95 lunch. Finally a decent pour of wine by the glass and decent wine, not plonk, at a real good price. Food is excellent. The new bar area is a undiscovered gem. When alone, can sit there and have quiet meal without having to be seated alone in the dining room, and the bartender seems to keep the wine glass filled!! Very friendly service.
What NYC is all about. This is the kind of place that has the vibe of NYC that people come here to look for. Great food and service. There is a sense of exhuberance here that is really addicting. I liked it a lot.
I like it.. The menu is expansive and there is something that will please everyone. The restaurant itself is a great dining experience, large and very active. Service is impeccable. The waiter was very attentive and good with his personal recommendations on the menu(.The size of the portions were unbelievable) If you read anything negative just remember that every restaurant on this planet have a bad day every now and then, that's why I have ignored all the bad reviews and went there. . The place is fantastic. I would definitely go back.
Thank God they are back!!.
I paid a visit to Ecco-la last week. I loved what they did with the place. My girfriend got there before me and was offered a seat at the (very nice) wine bar. We had the Salmon and the Black Linguini, it was very good indeed.I don't know if it was because they were not so busy that night, but the service was fantastic, our waitress gave us good sugestions on the wine, food and dessert. We loved the Foccacia bread.
I recommend this place, worth a visit.
Good Food!! Terrible service. The food was ok!!!...average at best. The waitstaff was actually the worst I've experienced...didn't bring someone's food until 20 min after everyone else and acted annoyed when we kept reminding them. Apparently they can't handle large groups for dinner on Fridays.
Don't believe the hype - this is a TRAP. This restaurant can seem like a find on a good night. Unfortunately, I've seen its true colors. The waitstaff is great. However, its obvious that management has no knowledge of how to service a highly demanding clientele. When a guest had a glass of wine dropped on her, management didn't offer to reimburse her or even apoligize. The tables are too close together in the claustrophobic and uninviting main area.
Awesome Italian!. I thought this place was going to be a lot more expensive but the food is reasonable and realllly good. I feel like you could even take a date there. ;) It's my favorite Italian place on the upper east that's reasonably priced with good food and service. :)
Where is the homemade bread?????. I've been going to Eccola for a few years now, it's 2 blocks from where I live, so,why not? You have to admire a place like this. The pasta you had there in 2000 (an loved it) will taste the same in 2005.It is not fancy, but the staff there gives you an honest service, very polite and attentive, and the food is simple but yet well prepared. It's cheap, so you can avoid the "early bird $9.95" dinner, because the crowd is too noisy.I find $ 6.50 for a glass of wine a bit too much, and also they used to make their own bread(not anymore), but overall, I recomend Eccola.
