A low-key neighborhood dive to drink the night away with buddies. – In Short
Shoot some pool, play some foosball, try your hand at darts--or just chill at this local watering hole, which is never quite full, never quite empty, but always feels like home. Mild and congenial, the minimally decorated main bar is the kind of place where the fight is on the tube, classic rock is blasting from the speakers and a game of darts is always imminent. The basement has taken on a name of its own--the Underscore--and offers live music.
Average Bar w/good service and no over-crowding – Not too crowded on a Thursday night. Most of the folks go downstairs for the live music, I guess. Beware, there's no food here. The bar has a load of somewhat out-dated delivery menus, you can call for Pizza or burgers, if you want. The bar-tender is nice and extremely easy going. The place is nothing special, but doesn't try to be. The music is a bit too loud, and the crowd a bit too white, but otherwise it's a good place to get pleasantly sloshed. --Drink Club is a Roving Groupn of NYC Drinkers
my favorite – Ever since we moved into the neighborhood last summer, this has become our regular bar. The bartenders are great, the music is always a good mix of classic and new songs, the crowd is fun and it's the perfect place to go with friends for a low key evening. Basically it's everything you'd want for your neighborhood bar. In the back there are pool tables and darts and downstairs they have another bar, The Underscore (entrance is separate), with live music on most nights.
upper east side's best kept secret – Bar East is the best neighborhood bar on the Upper East Side, bar none. Great bartenders, drink specials, pool tables and a fantastic juke box. They have a new DJ spinning great rock and pop songs on weekends, and the Saturday night crowd is a ton of fun. Last weekend was a blast!!
Thursdays are so fabulous!! – I love it, I love it, I love it.
For a single wacky crazy girl who likes to have fun with plenty of drinks (especially long island iced teas) and mingle with the some of the greatest guys the city has to offer, Bar East is it.
If I didn't have to go to the hamptons every weekend, I'd definately live in this bar. To get a perspective of how fabulous Bar East is, let me tell you that I party all over the place, from Connecticut to Jersey to New York, even as high up as Guilderland (don't ask), this is among the most lovely bars I've been to. I love the relaxed atmosphere and I don't have to deal with immature college frat boys like some other places. I just love this place..
Awesome new bartender... – Good happy hour spot, great new bartender on Thursday nights!
