Editorial Review for FAO Schwarz – by Linda Harel
In Short
Everything is larger than life at this 50,000-square-foot store. Expect to meet storybook characters and watch performances by magicians, storytellers and professional dancers who romp around on the giant dance-on piano. Other highlights include a section of rare antique toys, a nursery of newborn baby dolls up for adoption, a karaoke corner and an old-fashioned ice cream parlor.

I haven't been to FAO Schwarz since they remodled it. Let me assure you that this isn't the famous FAO Schwarz that everyone loved. Now, sadly, it's more like a Wal-Mart. Gone are all the very creative theme rooms for the Star Wars and Barbie toys. They have been replaced by sterile white walls. They took out the giant robot elevator. After FAO Schwarz went bankrupt and then remodled, they clearly cut back expenses on all the things that made it magical. I highly recommend you don't waste your time. It pains me to say it, but go to Toys R Us in times square. You'll be better off.
Pros: toys, giant stuffed animals
Cons: no creativity, sterile, like Wal-Mart
