Terrible, arrogant service.
Went for Mother's Day, had been before on Mother's Day, and it was good, so we made a reservation for the family for 24 people back in March. When we got to the restaurant, they had messed up out reservation (despite them calling us to confirm it 2 days ago) and didn't offer so much as an apology. They charged me for a glass of orange juice for my 5 year old daughter while we were waiting. Finally got seated 45 minutes late. As they were serving the appetizers, the busboy poured hot oil from a tray of baked clams onto my mother and mother in law. Again, not a peep from the manager or owner. Fortunately, they weren't badly burned, but their dresses were ruined. After being in the restaurant for nearly 2 1/2 hours, we still hadn't received out entrees. We asked the waitress to cancel the rest of the order, and give us the check for the appetizers. Then the owner came over, arrogantly told us that he had 120 people in the restaurant and our order would take time, then came back with the kitchen slip to say that the waitress put our order in "only an hour ago", as if it were our fault, and how dare we expect our food after an hour.
Needless to say, we left, and won't be going back. We had been there several times before with large parties, and while the food was always just so - so, the service was usually good and we enjoyed the family style.
It wasn't just the delay, but the nasty attitude of the owner in dealing with us, he couldn't care less that 24 people were walking out of his restaurant.. We will not be returning.

Incredible Italian Food- Well worth the trip!.
I grew up in Staten Island, and having lived in the city for a decade, I have become quite the "foodie."
No Italian restaurant in Manhattan, however, can compare to Bella Mama.
Never, have I had restaurant Italian food with more home-cooked flavor. Everything from
the bruschetta to the chicken eugene to the baked ziti is to die for.
The service is impeccable. On Saturday there is live music. Go on an empty stomach.
Also they make the best cappaccino I have ever had.
Definitely a destination restaurant.

Epicurian Delights!.
It's always a pleasure to dine at Bella Mama. The waiters are friendly and attentive; the servings are generous and prepared to perfection. The garlic knots that are offered with your meal are a signature item. Try the Veal or Chicken a la Bella Mama.......the marriage of the ingredients will make your mouth water.
