“The food & the service is outstanding.”
“will admitt that the food is good, but I have seen a slow decline on the quality and quantity.”
as long as you can afford a little more than one hour for lunch, you will get your money's worth. Amazing pasta and great service.
Good food but quite expensive. Started out reasonably priced in a Bronx community. Now mostly caters to business people , DA's ,and attorneys. Price is not for an average Bronx income family. They even charged me 50 cents for 'mustard'.
Giovanni & G Bar. Want to find a decent place place in the Bronx for fine dining and cocktails? Giovanni is the place to be! Exceptional service and exquisite taste is what it's all about. They've got live events every night including Monday Karaoke, Wednesday Open Mic and live Jazz bands on other nights. Crowd is mature enough and the music keeps you moving. The food, Chicken Parmigian in particular, is also great. Love it !!
Sparkling Cider Mimosa's?. A week ago if anyone asked me about a good brunch place in the Bronx, there'd be no hesitation in suggesting G-Bar. I've been there many times in the last 5 or 6 years and it never dissapointed. The brunch selction was awesome and the unlimited mimosas is what kept me coming back for more! This past Sunday I met up with my sis and mom for some more of those unlimited mimosas. What we got was sparkling cider! With orange juice in it! It was the most disgusting thing I ever tasted...never mind non-alcholic! Not knowing yet that it was cider we asked for a glass of plain champagne thinking the sweet taste was from some kind of apple/pineapple mixture. It was not. When asked the waiter about the sparkling cider he said they were trying something different...but obviously not letting people know that we are not serving mimosas today. I thought it was extremely underhande. Did they think no one noticed? I was really dissapointed. While their food is decent. The mimosas is why I pay $25 for brunch as I never eat $25 worth of food. I'm not sure I'll be back. If you're looking for a brunch place with unlimited mimos as advertised...be wary. I'll have to start looking for a new spot.
The best Brunch on Weekends. The weekend brunch at Giovanni's is the best deal in the SoBro (South Bronx) the unlimited mimosa will have you singing by the end of the day! The food & the service is outstanding.. I highly recommend it because it is also very affordable and family friendly.
Good Food Good Service with a smile!. Went for lunch and drinks mid week. Located in a semi busy area (lacated across the post office on the concourse) Serivice was pronpt . food was very good, employees were very polite and always smiling. We had drinks , appetizer, and entree for two for under 60 bucks. Very nice ambieance. Would recommend to any one.
Very Expensive considering it's just "Pizza"..
While Giovanni's pizza is probably the best I've ever had, it's still pizza. They're very expensive and on more than one occasion, the pizza has arrived mostly "on the top of the delivery box". It's obvious the delivery personnel could care less about how you receive your order. Once the pizza was so messed up, I told the delivery person that I wouldn't accept it and he still demanded I pay!!! I did call the manager and I did recceive another pie, which was fine and which I did pay for. Unfortunately it was over an hour before it arrived.
I will admitt that the food is good, but I have seen a slow decline on the quality and quantity. Unfortunately, they are one of the few Pizza locations that do deliver and again, the pizza is the best. But I can't see paying Midtown Manhattan prices for Bronx pizza.
want to be disrespected, laughed at and still pay $70 for a dinner for two, then i recommend this place.. I ordered food to be delivered to my home and received a call to come outside and retrieve it. ( i wouldn't have ordered it from them if i knew i had to go get it seeing as i have 2 small children-hence the home delivery-and have never heard of delivery not being to the door). when i told this to the driver i was rudely told to call the manager and hung up on. i called the manager and he was on the phone with the driver and told me he would deliver it to the door. So, i looked out my window and see two very heavy set guys get out of the car and slowly amble into my apartment and to the door. they then give me a receipt, for $5 more than my online order quoted and when i told them that hanging up on people is rude they started laughing like they'd never heard anything funnier. i called management back and they said they would speak to the driver when they returned. I have a big problem with paying as much as i did and being treated as disrespectfully as i was. I do not reccommend this place.
Delicious Italian food, a diverse martini menu and sultry jazz, all in the heart of the South Bronx..
The Scene
There are two sides to every neighborhood and in this case, restaurant. In front, it's a basic pizza joint. But walk past the ovens and you'll discover G-Bar, a candlelit back-room lounge with a classy bar, intimate dining tables and small stage showcasing live music. In the end, though, it's the excellent and affordable food that attracts a diverse clientele that includes locals, Yankees fans and nearby court workers looking for an alternative to Chinese takeout.
The Food
The Giovannis opened their first restaurant in 1974; this pizzeria opened in 1992, and G-Bar was added in 2001. In addition to Italian staples like pasta, chicken and veal parmigiana, house specials like chicken Giovanni (chicken breast with sausage, sauteed in white wine) and linguini Giovanni (shrimp and clams in red sauce) keep the menu interesting. The all-you-can-eat garlic knots and chocolate martinis constitute a meal by themselves.
The Best Pizza!. One of my most favorite N.Y. treats has always been Pizza, good old fashioned, 'old school' Bronx Pizza. I've sampled countless ones in search of that familiar taste I remember over 30 years ago, & Giovanni's (@ Grand Concourse) is it. 'My search is over!"
