Everyone loves this Arthur Avenue standby, and it's not hard to see why. It still has all the authentic feel that Little Italy lost long ago, and the food is gutsy and homey, if not always a knockout. But no trip to the area is complete without a visit.

No menu????.
the most ridiculously restaurant I have ever been. First off, no menu, we will by no chance to know the price. For a party of 3 ordering a meat sauce penne, chicken pasta, a steak and a glass of wine. The food is so-so, steak is overcooked and dry. The bill came out $65.00
And funny thing is next table for party of 4, I saw they ordered 2 appetizer, 4 full size meal and everyone wine. The waiter shout their bill is $52.00. That sound strange.
Without menu, without price to referring to. The waiter name their own price. I suggest the new comer or tourist to go some place else for a better tasting meal that you know better what and how much you are eating. This is just a scam, people don't go there.........

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Idiot Reviewers. I never contribute to these collections, but the so-called reviews on this page are so ridiculously off base and elitist that I felt compelled to. I have lived in the Bronx all my life and was raised on my mother's Calabrese cooking (don't anyone say anything about my mother!) so I think I know a thing or two about what Italian food is supposed to taste like. If you want white table cloths and waiters with napkins draped over their arms and a fancy menu with $25 pasta dishes, then stay in Manhattan where you belong. We don't need or want you up here. Whoever thinks this place is overpriced really needs to check on how their lobotamy went. The food is excellent southern Italian fare. If you think penna alla vodka is Italian food, then you got what you deserved. Whenever I miss my mother's cooking, this is where I go. My mother wasn't too patient with fussy people who thought they knew what they were talking about asking her how something was prepared either!! Bottom line, this is a real Italian place for real Italians and their friends. Quelli che solomente pensono che sono italiani, andatevi via!!

Give your money away if you want to. First, let's get one thing straight - the user reviews here all miss the mark, I mean REALLY miss the mark. Are these real customers or friends of the owners This place is cramped, is plastered with zagat plaques on every wall (uuh, tacky), has red vinyl "tablecloths", rickety little chairs, and, in my personal opinion, is a dump - not "charming" as others have described it. I found this to be one of the most stressful service experiences I've ever had. The waiter basically shouts "What do ya want, pasta, veal, chicken? I said, "Well, how are they prepared? Do you have a menu? "No menu" he replied. Too much machismo and testosterone in that restaurant - you can still be macho and have polish, but these guys are very "rough." Anyway, I was hoping the food would make up for all of this. I wound up doing something I though would be safe, penne pasta with vodka sauce The worst, and let me repeat, the worst penne alla vodka I have ever had. The pasta was undercooked and the sauce was watery - neither was piping hot, more like lukewarm. I grew up on Tuscan cooking - this place is an embarassment to Italians and to Italian cuisine. The last thing that ticked me off was the "bill". The waiter basically comes over and gives you the "number". I'm leery...cash only, no bills, no written itemized list of items sold, hmmm? Anyway, this place is a ripoff (high prices for a VERY low end experience)...go to a proper Italian restaurant for the money...they are literally printing money at your expense. Don't let them take advantage of you.

It use to be the place that never disappointed, I could talk this place up and it always lived up to it reputation, I great home style meal with a good price to match.
Well that was the past, the food is inconsistent and you better hold on to your seat when you get the bill. With no menu and pricing you never no what you’re going to get.
I used to love her but it's all over now ...

disappointing. We went as a group of 6 people that were attending the Fancy Food Show. Had a great recommendation from a customer of ours at our Italian Restaurant. Went with 2 chefs, a master butcher, wine specialist, and all are world travelers. The food was terrible except for the calamari. Salad was bland, Spaghetti with clams, white wine, butter & garlic was bland, suasages and meatball were tasteless (must have been steamed since breakfast - we were there at 2pm). Everything was bland and taseless, even the service. The world cup was on so we were more of an inconvenience for them than anything. I don't know how much my boss paid for the lunch but my opinion is that it was way too much. Good thing we stopped at Umberto's for oysters and Edigio's for cannoli's. Maybe they feed the neighbors and regulars differently than the rest of their clientele.

Southern Italian Paradisio.
I have been coming to Dominicks for years; although I admit I have not been there for far too long for my taste.
You have to know the place to know how it works. The food is outstanding -- the salad fresh (ALWAYS), many tasty and wonderful entrees (you just gotta KNOW). If you know about Carmine's in NY, here is where the idea started; here is what Carmine's aspires to be). I was reading the reviews and feel compelled to respond. This is a great place, but it is not a place for tourists or "jerks" (unless they do their homework). Forget about the menu; throw yourself on the mercy of your server and you can't go wrong!

Not what we expected.
We had planned this trip to Dominick's after watching a travel documentary about restaurant's in NYC. This one was well recommended. We drove from Philadelphia to spend the day in NYC. Our guests were from Florida.
We arrived and were immediately seated (it was 230pm) and were asked for our drink order. Atmosphere was good. Lots of people eating. The dinner's next to us recommended the ziti with rape and sausage.
Bottle of wine came which was already uncorked - first disappointment then the waiter started to take our order.
We asked for OLIVE oil to dip our bread in - but we were told they don't have OLIVE oil. What AUTHENTIC ITALIAN resto does not use OLIVE oil, our second disappointment.
We ordered muscles, clams casino for appetizers - fourth disappointment as the seafood was tasteless (unsalted, no seasoning).
Main dishes were the fifth disappointment as the ziti with broccoli rape and sausage was warm and salt-less. The veal parmigiana was plentiful however lacked seasoning, salt and the tomato sauce was bitter. The strip steak was very rare, we had asked for medium well.
All this for $153. From a scale of 1-10 - we rated the food a 3 - typical diner food - not genuine italian food at all - far from it, the ambiance was a 4, wait staff a 5 too.
There are other wonderful Italian resto's like il cortile on mulberry st in little italy in NYC which happens to be one of our favorite resto's.
We will not return to this eatery ever. Sorry but we were very disappointed - NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED, however we had a great time walking around the neighborhood.

USED TO BE REALLY GOOD.... I have always loved Domenick's but this time, the waiter couldn't have cared less. He barely gave us the specials (we had to drag them out of him) and once we were finished he beligerantly gave us the amount owed. My easygoing friend lost her temper and told him and told me "we are never coming back". I guess they don't need us anyway.

EXTREMELY Over Rated. My husband and I decided to try Dominick's and boy were we disappointed. To start we had the baked clams which were just baked with some plain breadcrumbs sprinkled on top, there was nothing good about them at all. For dinner I had the veal parm which was not even real veal, I believe it was some kind of processed veal the kind you get pre-made with the breading and all. The veal was extremely tough and the sauce was blah to say the least. My husband had the stuffed peppers which were so so if that. The food was some of the worst food I had and I don't understand why some people are rating this place with 5 stars. I am italian and I know what real italian food should be and this is not it. The service is horrible and the waiters are rude but you do get a good size portion but who wants to even eat it. Save your money and stay away from this place.

food good but overpriced ,service fair at best. many better places on arthur ave. used to like eating here but long past the days when worth the price. food ok but service is only fair at best. prices are higher than most other joints with food as good or better on the same street so skip this place unless no choice
