good seafood, ok prices, tight space, bad decor – THE GOOD: this place has really good seafood particularly the king crab legs, lobster and jumbo shrimp. nice big portions, the meal specials for 2 really feed 4 people. service was very good. good prices compared to other places in city island.
THE BAD: small and tight space, ugly red old carpets, metal bars all over the windows covered by the ugliest curtains. no view! ugly decor!
The food was so good but it was deppressing to sit in such a dark room and everyone was practically sitting on top of each other.
Good place for seafood, but don't expect anything else – My wife took me here for my birthday dinner with 3 other couples over the weekend. The seafood we ordered were very fresh. I had a dozen raw oysters, they are very fresh and very tasty. But some are so small, I won't really count it as part of my dozen. The main courses are so hugh, for 8 adults we ordered two of those special dinner for 2 and few other orders of crab legs. It took us a very long time to finish our food only b/c there are so much of them. I felt like we were swimming on a table of seafood. Hands down the seafood are fresh, tasty and alot of. The breadcumbs really doesn't bothers me and I found it helpful b/c they take away those unwanted liqual from the seafood so your hand don't get too wet and less messy.
The place itself has that feel where you know you are here to eat their seafood and pay for the seafood you ordered and not for those fancy docor which at the end you are paying extra for. The price is great and the food is great. They do have their own parking lot but it is a bit small so yes parking is really bad in the area but if you go early you should be fine.
The only negative thing I have and got to warn everyone that are planning to try this place out. There is only one bathroom for each gender. So if you have to go, you better ready to wait in line. My wife waited 20 minutes for the bathroom to change my kid's diaper and when she finally get there, there's no room in there to change anything. And after 7 that place is busy and you will wait for a table so do go early.
A whole lot of good seafood! – While I agree with the previous poster that there is a lot of breadcrumbs, there is also a lot of seafood with those breadcrumbs. My boyfriend and I ate here last in August. We got seated right away like we always do and we decided to order the Seafood Divers Speacial for 2 people. It is not made for 2 people. IT IS MADE FOR AT LEAST 4. We had so much seafood that we had to take it home and eat it for lunch the next day. Not as good the next day but it was two full meals. The seafood is fresh and well seasoned and arrives pretty quickly. The staff is attentive but when it gets busy its hard to get there attention. Drinks are pretty good. I usually drink martinis with dinner in the city but for some reason I always get cheesy and get the Pina Coladas here. There actually pretty good.
Your side order options are fries, baked potatoe, salad and pasta with marinara sauce. The sauce is horrible! I've had Ragu that's tasted better but thank God it's only a side dish and the entree portions are so big that you probably won't even touch it.
NOTE*** Do not even attempt to go there on Mother's Day. There is only one lane going into city island and one lane coming out. And if everybody is going there, it'll take you at least 3 hours [yes 3 hours] to get there and you will never find parking. I learned the hard way after 2 years of trying. Best time to go is on the weekend during the summer but get there early for dinner or you'll spend more time looking for parking than waiting for a table.
Also management is incredibly understanding . I forgot my debit card and my boyfriends credit card expired. We found a receipt with a different credit card number and thery were nice enough to use it. Byt the way the bill for the feast for 2 plus 3 drinks and tip was under $100.
Awful – This place specialized to food coloring and excessive breading on everything. I was looking for sea food, but only found bread crumbs.
