Syms-a classic. Syms is an old-school classic that is still around for good reasons. They have great deals for designer clothes and a great reputation. Even though Syms is generally marketed towards men; my girlfriends and I always find fantastic deals there for their female clothing section.

Syms Elmsford, NY. This store recently went through renovations and looks a lot more organized than it used to be. You can find good deals for women's, men's and kid's clothing. This is my husband's favorite store since their men's selection is fairly large unlike Loehmann's or Marshalls. I was able to find a very nice winter jacket for my three year old son. I do have one complaint: it's very difficult to find anything less than size 6 women's clothing items; a lot of suits, dresses, etc. I saw were size 8 and up, therefore, it's not a store for me.

Bargains for the Patient. Syms is a reliable choice for mens clothes, though you have to be willing to sacrifice a couple of hours in order to endeavor to find the best deals. I've found decent suits for $250 and very good dress shirts for $30 and less. Every once in a while, you can dig up a pair of really good shoes or a nice tie. There also bargains to be found among the womens and kids clothes. But remember, shopping here takes patience.
