A treasure-filled historic estate, complete with extravagant gardens, a wonderful art collection and musical programs.. On the Green
The names of the gardens alone are likely to soothe you: Sense Circle, Tapestry Hedge, etc. But Caramoor is more than calming greenery. Check out the Performers Showcase, a 45-minute recital series that features young, talented, artists every Wednesday at 11am. Or settle down at the House Museum, overlooking the romantic Spanish Courtyard, for an opulent afternoon tea served on china used at parties once given by Caramoor's founders. The tea includes a tour of the estate, which is less like a house and more like a spectacular Mediterranean-style mansion.

Historical Notes
Caramoor founder Lucie Bigelow Rosen was an enthusiast of Russian scientist Leon Theremin and his namesake instrument. Indeed she herself played the theremin; so not only was Rosen a patron of the arts, she was also an unusual practioner.
