Not a Good Experience

From the moment my party entered the restaurant, the staff was not gracious. The staff was not attentive. The food was VERY over-priced and was not particularly good.

Bad Service, High Prices and Mediocre Food

by denniemick at Citysearch

For the high prices they charge, you would expect beautiful ambiance, terrific food and great service. The service was poor. The waiter forgot some of our dishes. We had to ask for things twice. The restaurant was not particularly clean. Their was a mildew smell by the window. The kitchen, which you can see, looked dirty and the food was poor ..... with the exception of the Samosas which tasted very good but were really tiny.

I love Indian food, but I will not go back to this restaurant.

If service is important to you....

by anniegk at Citysearch

I was very disappointed in their service AND their food, but mostly their service. I went with my husband and his family on a Saturday evening. First they took 15 mins to service our table even though the place was half empty. Then I discussed with my waiter that I wanted roti to come with the appetizers - he said that is not possible, you have to eat it with the meal. I understood that was customary so I said OK... but then as I went to the bathroom I saw another table having appetizers with their Indian bread! I was also told by my waiter that my dish would come with bread instead of rice. This he argued later was not true, and said that I misunderstood him. Not that there was miscommunication, or whatever. No apologies, nothing. I felt like a grammar student being reprimanded by her teacher. The roti that did come out was so small we had to order 2 baskets, $5 each. My food just plain sucked - not the Indian food I was craving. Maybe it was too authentic for our American tastebuds. We are NEVER eating here again.

THE MENU CANNOT BE BEAT

by foodaddiction22 at Citysearch

IVE ALWAYS BEEN ONE TO SAY THAT A BUFFET IS NOT THE WAY TO JUDGE THE QUALITY OF A RESTAURANT. NOT ONLY IS THE FOOD PREPARED IN BULK, IT OFTEN LACKS THE TASTE AND DEPTH THAT A DISH IS SUPPOSED TO OFFER. HOWEVER, THAT BEING SAID, THE BENGAL TIGER BUFFET IS QUITE GOOD, ESPECIALLY IN COMPARISON TO OTHER INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN THE REGION, ALTHOUGH I DO AGREE THE APPETIZERS SOMETIMES LACK THE TEXTURES TRADITIONALLY ATTRIBUTED TO INDIAN FOOD. HOWEVER, FROM THOSE THAT DARE VENTURE BEYOND THE BUFFET AND ACTUALLY SPEND A COUPLE EXTRA DOLLARS, IT IS WELL WORTH IT. THE JHINGA TANDOORI IS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. THE SHRIMP ARE HUGE AND ARE PREPARED PERFECTLY, NOT OVERCOOKED AND METICULOUSLY SPICED. THE ROGAN JOSH AND CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA, STAPLES AT INDIAN RESTAURANT CANNOT BE BEAT HERE. THE SAUCES ARE ROBUST AND TEAMING WITH FLAVORS OF CARDAMOM, GINGER AND GARLIC. AS AN INDIAN, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE OWNER OF THE ESTABLISHMENT HAS ABOUT THE CULTURE AND THE WAY HE PRESENTS IT TO MY NON-INDIAN FRIENDS. IT IS CLEAR THAT HE IS NOT JUST A MANAGER, BUT RATHER SOMEONE WHO REALLY ENJOYS HIS ESTABLISHMENT AND IS PROUD OF WHAT IT PRESENTS. THIS IS OFTEN LOST IN MANY OF THE INDIAN RESTAURANTS THAT ARE OPENING IN THE REGION. THE FOOD IS ALSO VERY CONSISTENT, ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THE OTHER RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA. IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT I MUST RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE NEW TO INDIAN FOOD AND NEW TO THE AREA. IF YOU EAT HERE ONCE, YOU WILL BE A FAN OF INDIAN FOOD AND CULTURE FOR LIFE. IT IS AN INSTITUTION AND WORTH THE FANFARE AND PRAISE THAT IT DOES RECEIVE.

  • Cons: CAN BE PRICEY

Horrible Indian Buffet! Don't go if it's your first-go with Indian cuisine, this place gives Indian food a bad name!

by foodaddict39 at Citysearch

I know my Indian food and let me tell you, the lunch buffet might look mighty but is anything but! The poori for pani poori reeked with stale oil. The restaurant got them somewhere and those pooris were clearly too old to be served (imagine a bag of potatoe chips were the chips start to smell from the oil they were deep-fried in). The bhel puri was already mixed with the sauce so that things that were supposed to be crunchy were mushy and things (potatoe chunks) that were supposed to be a little mushy were firm and undercooked. The chole (chickpeas) had no taste. The biryani tasted old. The idli was average. The saag and gobi were mediocre, could use more flavor. Basically, the price it charges is one of the most expensive I've seen but the quality of the food did not match its steep $ for an Indian buffet. If you want better Indian food, go across the street to that hole in a wall place, chances are you'll enjoy more. Don't bring your friends here if your purpose is to introduce them to Inidan food or to impress them, they will not be converted nor wowed.

  • Pros: Fresh chili peppers
  • Cons: The food!
