Bronx >Pipers Kilt Restaurant
The popular imagination south of the Harlem River sees the Bronx as Black, Latino, and Italian, but don't tell them that at Piper's Kilt unless you want to wake up in traction. The old Irish Bronx is alive and well at this pub, which happens to also have a really, really good burger.
excelent prices ... the best. GO there it is the best place in inwood. You will love it
The food is greasy, and will give you stomach cramps.
The orange juice is some type of fake stuff, nasty tasting orange color water!
The place it self has a pugent odor, of dirty floor, sour mop, and grease on the tables!
The last time I was there a stand in waiter, "took" a five dollar bill, claiming I only gave a certain amount. (I gave a 20, 10 and two 5 dollars, one for change).
The PK's on Broadway in Inwood Manhattan is so much nicer, cleaner, and the staff are profesional in appearance, and manners!
The reviews on this site vastly overate this joint. The entire place is dirty: bar, tables, and the restrooms, which seem not have been cleaned in months.
The wait staff are slow and unresponsive. The food is mediocre bar fare, nothing special about it, including the overrated burgers.
Was there with the wife and kids at a booth adjacent to the bar. Some customers, off-duty fire fighters, were at the bar blaring out the F-word every 5 seconds. The bartender didn' t seem to understand the notion of decorum in the presence of children. Needless to say, we won't be back, even without the kids.
In short, this place caters to vulgar working-class types who don't mind dirt and bad food.
Home away from Home. "The Kilt" has been a spot for me and my friends for some time! We come here for Monday Night Wings, Sunday to watch football, or any other day just to meet up. You cant beat the neighborhood friendly prices, and the food is awesome. Bartenders are great, and the place is just so comfertable!
amazing. If you are looking for a good time, with great burgers & beer, this is your place! I've been going to Pipers Kilt for over 8 years and have yet to be disappointed.
Best Burger Anywhere. I have been going to P&K's for over 30 years. Even though I now live in Central NY, I frequent the city often and have brought clients from as far away as Lubbuck Texas and Long Beach California, The response is always the same "best burger I have ever had".... I have been there in a suit and in cut offs and always felt comfortable and was treated the same! Love the brunch and it can't be beat as far as the price! I am taking a friend to a Yankee game next Saturday and that will be the stop both before and after the game. May make the Sunday Brunch as well, before we head back upstate! Highly recommend, always have found parking! You may have to walk a little!!!!!!
Fun and relaxed environment. Me and my husband have been going here for years. The food is great, the pitchers of beer are always cold and it's always super affordable. Fun, relaxed, cool place to have some drinks, eat bad-for-you type food and have fun!
Best in the Bronx. For 15 years, I used to basically live at PK's on 231st . The burgers were always great; big, juicy...a lot of cow for the buck. My other favorite (echoing an earlier review) were the buffalo wings....not nuclear, but hot enough to want to chase it down with a cold beer, but not hot enough to make you stop. This place is nothing fancy, just a great place if you want to eat authentic artery clogging food. Monday nights the place is very full; the 10 cent wings are a big draw. Their Sunday brunch is good, too...on some days unlimited bloody mary's are perfect with the side of grease to clear your head. Overall, you should check it out, for some it's a haul, but because of the 1 subway a block away it's rerally convenient.
Best Burger in the Bronx and elsewhere for years. One of the great neighborhood bars in the city for over 35 years, serving good basic food, great sports or family atmosphere, always lively discussion at the bar and ofcourse the best burger in the city for the money. Always cooked to your liking and served with fries and the coldest beer around. Worth the trip before or after the ballgame.
Great Neighborhood Eatery. A neighborhood fixture for decades. Not just a bar but also stand up and sit down dinning. Your basic meat and potatoes eatery all nicely prepared and reasonably priced. The burgers are full flavored & juicy and comes with a creamy potato salad or fries. The kind of place you could bring the family to eat. Different sporting events on different TV sets. Don't worry about the parking. Most of the customers are local. For others a very brief walk to BX1 & BX10 bus or No.1 & 9 subway all at West 231. Always a good spirited crowd on hand. Owner also has another place (same name) at W.207th Street and Broadway in Manhattan.
