The Only Cycle Shop

by montanile

I have been a loyal customer of PBC since I started riding. Glen gave me an honest evaluation of the bikes and accessories without the typical sales pressure. He put me on a bike, geared me up and sent me on a test ride. When I returned (convinced I had test ridden my future "wife"), Glen wanted m to wait and consider the purchase. Aside from the fact that I was sure I wanted that bike, I knew that I wanted Piermont. The service is bar none. Thanks Bill for always taking care of me. You're the man! PBC is so much more than just a great bike shop, it is a place where pros and the novice are treated the same. It is a small town, hnads on store with a metropolitan understanding. I"m loyal to PBC, because they are loyal to me.

They've never let me down

by Bill m

I have been making trips out to Piermont Bicycle Connection from NYC for more than 10 years. They have been a great shop for reliable, friendly service (even if I came in with a botched repair of my own doing). Stocked with a nice, wide selection of bikes, Glen and crew can outfit anyone, ranging from a newbie just wanting to get from A to B, to a racer wanting the latest/fastest/most aero bikes around.  I won't buy a bike from any other shop.

It's even a great place to check in, grab a PowerBar, and hang out midway through a ride.

I'm also a big fan of their EBay service also- I've been able to clear out some closet space, sell stuff on EBay, then refill the closet with more riding gear! It's a win-win!

Get yourself to Piermont (by 2 wheels or 4), and you will not be dissappointed.

Appalling experience

by tdunham

I was with 8 of my other teammates on a Saturday ride through piermont, and we stopped into the store to look around while one of our teammates had her bike serviced. As we were grabbing our bikes to leave, the owner marched outside to speak with us. Apparently he was 'displeased' (read: outraged) that we hadnt properly hung a jersey back on the rack after looking at it. He approached us (within inches of our faces) and proceed to yell at us about how much money 'people like us' cost him, and how rude and inconsiderate we are. We apologized, but stated that it was not intentional and we didnt appreciate him being so aggressive. This was lecture number one. He returned - TWO MORE TIMES - while we were waiting outside for the teammate having her bike serviced - and screamed some more, informing us that we were sorry excuses for 'ladies' and that he didnt ever want to see us back in his store. We apologized again, but asked him to back off. A man stepped in to defend us, another took the shop owner's side.. all in all - it nearly turned into a brawl - all over the fact that we didnt properly hang a jersey on the rack.. which we apologized for. (though the last time i checked, no retail store actually expects customers to hang and fold merchandise to their satisfaction. Not to say that it isnt something you should do - but it's definitely not something to start a fight over..)

all in all, he was rude, unprofessional, and could probably be charged with assault for the way he acted. He was way out of line. We will make sure to take our business elsewhere.

  • Cons: Owner is downright rude.
